This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Did I read that correctly? If you report rules violations using the report feature of the forum that's a rule violation and you get banned, not them? Now that is some mind-bending logic - the kind that would be used in a movie to break a robot. Remove the report feature then, if it can't be used as is without getting disciplinary action yourself.

Yeah BGG started showing signs of trouble around 2010. More as time went on, then they sunk their claws into RPG, a thing they did not even consider "games"

And all of a sudden theres a "Womens only" forum so they can "feel safe" implying they were not till then. BGG staff lie left and right and theres alot of dirt going on behind the curtain.

Then they change the formerly male mascot icon to a shapeless orange jaggy thing. And you know exactly why.

And on and on.

Now what they ACTUALLY mean is "reporting left-wing political talk is a violation, because the left is for basic human decency so can never be wrong"

You read that correctly.  He dind't say, "reporting violations when the violator is someone on our side politically," and he didn't say, "reporting violations we deem to be not a violation."  He said, "reporting violations is a violation."  And I, too, am bewildered as too why they would even have the flag feature on BGG.  I used the flag feature, not make accusations on the public forums.

I just found the exact quote in an old email, when I reported others who were politicking in the non-political forums, but not being suspended."

Quote"I moderated your comment personally.  Accusing others of violating site rules is itself a violation of site rules.

-Matthew M. Monin

BoardGameGeek.com"

By the way, bu that logic, Matthew M. Monin accused me of violating the site rules.  And wrongly, in my case.  That is itself a violation of the site rules, and he should be suspended.

On some imageboards, false reports are indeed bannable but it doesn't usually lead to an actual ban. They're just twisting language and abusing their power here, though.

1) The reports I made were not false reports.
2) Matthew M. Monin never said anything about false reporting or accusations of rules violations.

You are absolutely right about BGG twisting things and abusing their power.

I can't imagine being such a weak person as to get off on the "power" of being a mod, admin, whatever, on a freakin web forum, plebbit, etc. I'm not even particularly enamored with the power I have at work to fire new hires that are unsat, nor to send guys home for the day if they are a problem. I have actually only told new hires that I was going to can them once in 12 years, and that put the fear of whatever god they believe in in them. Two of the four went on to become management, so I guess my foot being applied to their ass (metaphorically, obviously) must've done some good.

The losers that get off on the mod power really should socialize more, get a job where they're outside in the sun and weather, doing something physical. They'll feel a million times better if they spend a summer swinging a sledgehammer for 6 hours a day.

We can't get into politics here, but the u/maxwellhill handle has quite the history behind it, especially since Aaron Swartz co-founded Reddit and was Epsteined even before the man himself. It's not just nobodies is my point. People from all walks of life have these weird power trips and I'm fairly certain I offended a very specific game developer acting as a covert moderator to get permabooted from Reddit, to the point of my IP address triggering shadowbans even after clearing all cookies and using new devices. Gaming and computing shouldn't even be political, but here we are.

Alot of publishers and even designers are appallingly insecure and love to play internet bully.
Steve Jackson Games is a repeat offender. They and a few other publishers have spies parked here, BGG RPG.net and likely Dragonsfoot and other fora. White Wolf staff used to be really nasty.
