This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Lion & Dragon with one GM and one Player

The Witch-King of Tsámra

Is it possible and if so does it work like any other OSR game? Are there any pitfalls or hurdles to be made aware of? Also would The duet rules from Scarlet Heroes or the other duet supplement rules work for Lion & Dragon?
Playing: Nothing sadly
Running: Tales of Gor, FKR Star Wars, Vampire 4th edition

Toadmaster

I don't see why not, tales of a questing knight are common, they would normally be accompanied by a squire which could be a second PC or NPC. Adjust power levels as appropriate and be aware that L&D has a much lower HP threshold than many forms of D&D.

Not familiar with duet.

A Duet style game is a One Player One GM game.

Mordred Pendragon

Funnily enough, I plan to run my first L&D campaign as a One-on-One or "Duet" style campaign with my uncle.

Would it be possible to play a Magister in play style?

I don't see why not, though just like in every other situation, it would not be ideal. Just because a gaming group of 1 is not ideal.

Well, sure, except that how survivable that would be depends on the type of game you run.  It might work well in some kind of 'medieval mysteries' sort of game, where there's more time spent on investigation and less time fighting.

Christopher Brady

I would suggest the Solo Heroes supplement from Sine Nomine, it's free and it has suggestions for one on one games.

Yes, if you're playing a 1 PC game, that's a useful resource.
