So, I'm pretty stoked, I got two of my 5e players to roll up L&D characters tonight, with the intent on playing soon! They were both very interested. But, I did have a question...
Do 0-level characters gain the "special" abilities of their class at 0-level, or not until 1st? For example, does a 0-level Magister have the Languages Lore? Does a 0-level Cleric gain a miraculous power?
Thanks!

No, 0 level characters do not yet have the abilities. In my games, a 0-level cleric or magister have not yet completed their final initiations. That said, they should still know details about things to do with the class. so a 0-level magister won't have languages lore but will know some words of other languages (particularly the ones he's had to study).
Note that INT bonus for extra languages IS granted at level 0.
Thanks Pundit! I wasn't positive just from reading the rules before we rolled them up!
Even just from character generation, both of my friends were impressed with the "old school" spirit of the game! Both around 30, they've never played anything but 5e, but that's about to change. :)

Tell us how it went!
I will! So far I've just done CharGen with the two most open-minded players, but they were enthusiastic as it unfolded, each rolling two characters each. They'll help interest the other players from my 5e group no doubt.
For the sake of interest...
My friend Jay rolled up a Magister named Stephen Cooper (background skill: cooper) and a Fighter named Anthony Fisher (background peasant, skill: fishing). The magister has a missing heirloom in his past, and the fighter has been banished from his village. We're working out the details of the above.
His girlfriend Monique rolled up a Cleric named Isobel who was kidnapped by Reivers in her youth and thus has a working knowledge of Scots culture and language. Her 2nd character is a Scots Woman; she rolled a large family but most of them are dead, killed (we figured) in clan warfare. Her clan, MacEwan, has an outstanding and ongoing feud with a rival Scots clan...

An awesome start!
I actually had a chance to run L&D for the first time tonight. Great fun! Details here: https://www.therpgsite.com/design-development-and-gameplay/lion-dragon-dark-albion-the-northern-marches/
