This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

They anounced today on a Convention, that their flagship game DSA (the D&D equivalent in terms of market position in Germany), will be handled by another company, Ulysses.

Along with the Classic Battletech/Shadowrun announcement it seems that Fanpro is dramatically paring down their operations.  Any word on why?

Just curious.

No, FANPRO themselves are insanely famous for their dodgy announcements. The promise a press release on monday.

But it´s pretty well known here, that they were severely fucked up for some time. For example, they paid Freelancers with books instead of money, and moved the schedule nearly a year into the future, stopped delivering their "Realms of Arkania" Periodical.

I repeatedly told Jong so, but he wouldn´t believe it. It´s sad to be right about this. But I hope SR, BT and DSA will get a better treatment from now on.

The US branch of FanPro is doing well, but I cannot vouch about Germany. Quite frankly, it's beyond my radar screen.

I respect NDAs, so I'll stop here.

Well the US branch is basically out of the RPG business too, no?

They don´t have any licence left, do they?

And the cool SR and BT writers are transferred to the new endeavour.

At this point, you're better off reading the announcements than bugging freelancers.

Does anyone know if the World of Aventuria setting book is actually shipping? Some online sites say it is, but others say it is on pre-order status.  I have been putting off getting it until I know for sure.

IIRC, the PDF is available on several e-shops but there's no print version.
