This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[Star Wars Saga Edition]Ship and Vessel prices?

Okay so we've started generation-three of the five players made characters tonight-and we've got a solid group of Quarren's and a single droid at the moment.

For the moment we've left location Grey, as I need to consult with the other Game Master and ensure I know where his group is starting out at-which will determine where in the Galaxy we'll start.

Now a question I have yet to answer is how much do ships cost? my players are already looking for a way to steal, borrow, pirate or otherwise obtain a vessel. One option they should have, seriously, is purchasing one. Any help on where to look folks?

Alnag

I am going to sell my group a ship, which is very, very cheap... (say 25 000 credits) and absolutely new. The problem? It is stolen prototype... the owner (Corellian shipyards) wants it back and send several ships to found it. Because as it is usual with prototypes it is just one piece, testing new and not always working technologies. Produce lot of complications and such... Yay.

Depends on the ship. Your basic no-frills stock light freighter costs 100,000 credits new and 25,000 credits used.

For ideas, take a look at the SWRPGnetwork website. They are Rodney Thompson's brainchild and THE got-to place to get some info on Star Wars RPG material. The only drawback is that they are still d20 2nd Ed and d6 only, they haven't caught up to the SWSE yet in the stats section.
"Meh."

Sosthenes

The D20 games take lots of information from the WEG D6 games (as does most Expanded Universe stuff), so D6 RPG information still seems to be okay, at least for pricing...

Serious Paul

Cool thanks. I've seen, while pouring through a few, that the D20 and D6 materials seem pretty similar in both pricing, and Stats. (A blaster inD20 seems pretty similar to one in SE, so what the hell right?)

Alnag I like your idea a lot-and if they stick to their "pirate" or steal a ship idea, I'll be doing something similar. (Where the ship they've gotten has some baggage.)

Even if they "buy" a ship, they'll be hurting as they'll need to go deep into debt to get one, and all of the problems that come with owing your ass to everyone and their brother.

Thanx. I did this, because I wanted them to have a ship soon... so the will pay about 1/4 or really price, but will pay the rest and more with this "baggage". It also opens opportunities. Hope, you will let us know, how did they progress... :p

Hey, at least none of you has to convert SpaceMaster statistics to Star Wars Saga vessels ;)

They can also rent the ship and run her profit as a bounty hunting platform, high rate passenger transport, or even small to medium freight hauling with the ship owner gaining a full share of the take (as well as rent).

Not a shabby idea, especially that last bit. Thanks.

Thanks again Sosthenes for saving me a ton of time.
