So, after backing this game on Kickstarter like over 5 years ago, because I'm a huge Highlander fan and, after enduring the dev's utter disregard and outright apathy toward the backers for years, oftentimes arguing with them and calling them names for having the goal of actually wanting a return on their investment toward this game, the final PDF has at last been sent to backers.
And this complete idiocy is just inside the cover that makes me want a refund even more:

They could have ticked a few more boxes if you ask me and I do love it when people tell other people how to think.
And in fact, I'd print out that list and have it beside me while I played a game about chopping people's heads off and then leeched their power.

Being a Highlander fan, I was kind of bummed about missing out on it. After it was so late, I figured I dodged a bullet. Looks like I was right.

I hate it when a game slaps something like this at the start. I cling to the increasingly outdated view that RPGs should be about throwing dice for the purpose of escapist fantasy fun, not for having more of the same stuff you talk about for the rest of the week.

Yeah, I also agree with most of the statements but I also don't feel it's appropriate to shoehorn your partisan politics into your game and attack potential buyers for not joining your cult.

I agree with you, that they are very pretentious and insipid for presenting their 'manifesto' in an RPG elf game. Like they have a right to tell me (or anyone else for that matter) how we should live.

What other form of writing is infected with this kind of virtue signaling prologue? Do we see nonsense like this in other forms of entertainment? Imagine going to a movie, scarfing down some buttery popcorn, and having something like this appear before the opening credits.
It doesn't matter if I agree or disagree with the substance if it. It's preachy and stops me from taking the work seriously.
