This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I know how a lot of people around here feel about GoFundMe/KS etc.

Jeff Dee has a GoFundMe to help with his reclaiming V&V.

In case anyone wants to help him out.

Yeah well...call it Heels and Heroes or something else. $50k for some crusty-old trademark no one under 30 has ever heard of? Sounds like a waste of money.

Given the crap that people have paid for, are still waiting, hoping beyond hope, and none have even remotely this sort of old school nostalgia?  50 bucks is a steal.

He already tried that and it flopped.  Like it or not crusty old trademarks are mostly what drives this hobby and too few people want to see anyone's latest ideas.

Are you talking about this? That's similar to V&V, but not really. If he said, we're publishing the 3rd edition of V&V and it'll be called X&X, I think it'd do fine. Anyone who is remotely interested in Jeff Dee's work should be aware of the trademark bs.

Well at least they didnt get suckered into using Game Salute.
The V&V Card game is now a year past its ship date and allmost immediately the "Working on it! Going to print soon!" cycle started.
This one though was not from Dee or the original designers. It was from Ben Swainbank. Wasnt he one of the writers for Vampire?

FWIW, the card game is out.  I got mine 2 months ago.

JeremyR

I hope he gets it back. I remember absolutely nothing about the actual rules of the game, but I remember playing it fondly as a kid

From the Kickstarter or from the TheGameCrafter prototype?

The Kickstarter (with the expansion).  I just played it yesterday.

They have a 3rd edition they've been working on. The legal case sidelined it coming out. I've read they want to release it one the legal issue is finalized in their favor

I did a playtest with Jeff Dee for V&V 3rd at a con a few years back, so yeah, it's been ready to go for a while.

But, again, $50k? Say he sells 3000 copies at $25 each...that license just isn't worth it.

Worse than that. 3k print copies is going to cost to print and ship. So gets back even less.

Obviously that's why he wants Free Money. I mean, at least offer the supporters a copy of the book or something...free PDFs?

Sorry for the non-sequitur, but based on your avatar, I can't help but read your posts in the voice of George Castanza.
