To whom it may concern, he's penciled in as a guest at North Texas RPG Con this year. Considering my first exposure to LOTFP was buying his Grindhouse edition then ranting about full-frontal male nudity at 3AM drunk off my ass, I might have to meet this man in person.

I haven't been able to make to to NTRPG for the last few years... if he's going to be there this year then I'll definitely be showing up. LOTFP isn't really my jam (I love "vanilla/classic" fantasy/D&D), but I get what it's doing and think it's great at it, plus he seems like a rad fuckin' dude who deserves support for not being a bitch.

Klytus

Well at least he wore clothes for this one. I can't watch any of his videos where he's naked. *shudder*
Klytus, I'm bored. What plaything can you offer me today?

An obscure body in the S-K System, Your Majesty. The inhabitants refer to it as the planet... "Earth".

I usually just minimize the browser and listen, or open a separate tab if I'm doing other internet things.  No Save vs Madness required.

Save vs. Madness...

That, sir, is the funniest thing I've read in a long time.

The potential for staggering amounts of lulz is insane there, hahah.

A few years ago before I'd deleted Faceook, I'd made some post. I honestly don't even remember exactly what it was, but it was fairly politically center and something that could spark legitimate good debate between sides, if approached by decent, honest folk (which the majority of my friends on there were). Some argument or another sprung up in the comments, and I'd made the comment that I wasn't taking sides and my friends were more than capable of debating their views like adults. Jeff Dee fuckin' spazzed out on me in the comments, saying that essentially only Nazis would let people argue over something where one side was obviously the Complete And Moral Truth. Then he blocked me.

Such an insufferable cunt.

Next time compare him to W Bush with his with us or against us rhetoric that drove the left nuts back in the day.
Lefties love being compared to W Bush.

I recently saw the video; there is a lot of information. I have not followed most of the controversies related to these complaints, so I need more details. Here I paraphrase what I understood:

1. Facebook blocked Raggi for some posts.
2. The rules of social media platforms and creative communities are arbitrary.
3. He was banned from FreeRPGDay because some other publisher didn't like his work.
4. He got backlash because he took a picture with Jordan Peterson (and made it public)
5. He got backlash because Sak S had allegations leveled at him, and Raggi did not condemn him instantly.
6. DrivethrugRPG must approve his books before they accept to sell them.
7. Larger RPG forums have instituted bans on discussing LotFP materials or authors (is he talking about TBP and their ban on talking about products from Sak S?)
8. Some reviews of LotFP materials get in trouble for giving him a platform.
9. Many people have decided they don't need the heat for associating with Raggi, which has caused them to lose projects or rights for reprinting works.
10. Some top RPG retail distributors stopped selling LotFP products, and Raggi was not informed.

So, basically, Raggi and LotFP have been "canceled", and there are coordinated efforts to shun them and choke them economically, correct?

I think MerrillWeathermay has the right idea:

This hit me in a few ways that I wasn't anticipating.  I popped over here to see if there was any discussion, but I'm guessing with the Holidays most people haven't even seen it yet.

It's a bit long, disjointed, and occasionally painful to watch (as a lot of James' videos tend to be) but definitely worth a watch.

The problem with Raggi is that he wants to be edgy and transgressive, but still gain acceptance in the mainstream RPG "community", which isn't going to work.

He wants to sell his stuff on DrivethruRPG, and operate as a vendor at Gencon and Origins. If he is going to do that, he is going to have to play by the rules of the woke crowd, and bow down to leftist assholes. He seems to think that there is some monolithic RPG community out there run by Bernie bros, when in reality, there is a big OSR scene, conventions that welcome reasonable people, and Internet publishers who would be happy to carry his stuff

Last I checked, Amazon didn't require "sensitivity readers" or forced edits on RPG products. I have bought some very edgy stuff off of Amazon over the years

Fu** Gencon --I never go to that convention, and I have deep pockets. I go to smaller shows and events, and I don't buy products off of Drivethru

Raggi should start his own convention, and welcome every edgy game designer and lost soul into it --lots of gamers would be interested in attending, including myself.

He needs to stop trying to be Bon Jovi and start realizing he is Slayer. LoTFP is not mainstream.

He needs to organically build an audience on his own terms, and that takes some time and money. He has a great product and a reputation already

If Raggi wants to continue to be edgy and transgressive, then LotFP needs to focus on direct sales and alternative sales channels, but is this feasible? Can he make a living that way? Or is the only way to survive to bow down so he can be accepted back into the big groups and aim for a broader audience? Of course, it is too easy and naive to say, "it is better to die standing than to live on your knees" when one own ass is not on the line, so I admire his position. I am considering putting my money where my mouth is by buying more of his books (I wish the shipping costs were reasonable).

I think that's more of a problem in the past tense.  "Better a bigot than a censor", and his complete renouncement of avoiding working with people as some kind of collective punishment, along with calling out a powerful essay ( https://freddiedeboer.substack.com/p/please-just-fucking-tell-me-what )... these are not the words of a person who is confused any longer.

Well, yes, it seems like, at this point, Raggi has already accepted that he will continue to be shunned, rejected, refused, and canceled by the mob (dare I say the left crowd?), so he is moving on.

Good for him. I hope it works out well. Those interested in helping should start now before it is too late.

I think one of Raggi's problems is he was friends of Zak and others that were part of the left crowd. He lost most of his friends/contributers as well as a lot of business when the Zak thing blew up and is finally finding some kind of footing again.

I feel bad that Raggi is getting screwed over so much.  I cannot take him seriously at all when he does videos with his top off.

I don't know the explanation or the story behind the topless videos (maybe there is one). To me, it gives me the impression that he is high on drugs (because of the toplessness and the wet hair, as if he was sweating), but besides those details, he doesn't seem high at all (coherent speech, clear train of thought, not jittering, etc.), so I don't think it is high when he records the videos.

I also don't get the idea of having the green screen as the background and keeping it green...

Right, that is one of the issues, but not the only one. I am not updated on the whole Sak situation, but that is another can of worms.

However, the left crowd is unforgiving, and as per Raggi's video, they have kept shunning him even when Sack is not involved. In the video, Raggi mentioned that the right way to proceed is to keep up the excellent work and let it speak for itself (I may be paraphrasing). However, the commercial blocking and social banning make it seem like an uphill battle. Hence the need for support from the non-left crowd, the other outcasts, and the alternative people (I want to say "us" but I don't know if that sounds correct).
