This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Is there any good campaigns in which I can´t ever fly a Starship?

Qinese... er sorry, Chinese fireworks might be kind of a proto-rocket. And rocket is kind of a proto-spaceship. The only problem is few hundered years difference. But who cares...

So, all historical games are trash.

All modern day games are trash.

All fantasy games without starships are trash.

Wow! Just want to get it straight so I can burn the offending books... :O

Now, historical games do pose a certain threat to the all-encompassedness of the Rotwang-principle.

Glorantha sucks donkey balls compared to HârnWorld, that´s for sure.

Quin is not even a real game, there´s just one book (in english), so no need to take it seriously. It´s also mostly historical.

But the only real contenders are the historical games, I fear.

BUT:
How many people really play them? See, no one!
Why: No starships!
easy.

Von Däniken would like to have a word with you.
(As do the Raelians. The Heaven's Gate people have been oddly silent, though)

Hah!
I think the historical games are the solution, instead of the problem:

Rotwang-principle, 2nd Edition Revised and Expanded:

If a gamewright has the option of putting starships in his setting, and does not so, the hole in this fictional universe reserved for them fills with suckage instead.

Still, most historical games would be awesome with some starfaring in them.

I think at this point I've lost any ability to assume such a charitable motive on his part.

That asteroid is part of what fucked things up for Dark Sun 2e. It's still a counter-example :P
