This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Is anybody playing Star Wars Saga edition?

Stopped by my FLGS today but they didn't have it yet... maybe tomorrow or Friday.

I'm semi-stoked even though I know I'll never get to run it probably. :)

Wait.... !!

I'm astonished. The little store I  work at actually beat some other game stores and had it out on time ??

Miracle of Miracles!!
We've sometimes had issues with our distributors in the past .

Anyway, we had the books delivered to us Monday afternoon...almost morning actually. Hell if my co-worker had been unethical - he could have sold them 24 hours earlier . (Good thing he didn't) I did the receving paperwork on all 8 copies and put price labels on them . Like I said earlier - put them on the shelf 10 minutes after I closed Monday night.

Koltar, while we are at it: what is a "good sale" for a core book in your store? (any game, really) 5? 10? 20? 50?

Just curious.

Well, I WILL make this committment - I will bring my old d20 Star Wars campaign out of mothballs and run it here, using SAGA, once I have it and have read it, if anyone's looking for a game. I suspect my poor, poor campaign will fare better here than it did with my "regular" gaming group.

The only campaign that inspired me to use the old Motivator:

All that work, all that backgruond, all those NPCs and plot hooks... sigh.

Just curious.

That gets into revealing work business numbers.
 Don't know If I should.

Lets just say a delivery of EIGHT copies of a new RPG book is highly unusual.
My store manager told our bosses that we needed more than usual - just to cover our staff members who wanted copies of it . PLUS, we have to satisfy our regular customers that we know probably want to buy it.

HeQ, - SCION? -  that had all that hype before it's debut ? We got 3 copies of that . Don't believe we've sold one of those yet .

I'm not even a D20 player or GM  - and yet I'm buying a copy of it within the next week or two as a surprise gift for one of my friends. I hope he likes it .

There have been a couple "actual play" threads over on the WotC boards...but they have just been summaries of the session, nothing really solid about the system itself and how it works.

My game itself won't start until next Thursday.

However, I have been working on detailing and stating my beasts and NPCs for the adventure I was working on over on RPGnet.  So I can give you some information on how the system works for prep.

The NPCs and Beasts I've written up have taken about 1/2 the time that they do in D&D or RCR Star Wars.  That is using a new book that I am still fairly unfamiliar with.  To me this is a good thing.  Everything in the rulebook seems to be fairly easy to find so far, and the new NPC/beast character classes are very easy to use to create the characters you want.  It's fairly easy to use these guidelines to create specific NPCs/beasts, and pretty easy to add anything outside these guidelines without breaking the system (like adding "special abilities" to beasts that make them unique).

Prep isn't as easy as Savage Worlds, but it's way easier than D20.  I've come across very few questions that aren't quickly answered.  Personally I'm still giving the game two thumbs up in all regards.

That's great to hear, grubby.  I'm hoping to score a copy for my birthday, but now I may buy one if that doesn't come to pass.

Dagnabit, I'm still waiting for my rule book. The shop I pre-orderer from just bumped up the devliery date a bit.

As soon as it's there, me and the players will engage in some good, old-fashioned scoundrel activities. I just can't decide whether it should take place a few dozen years after KOTOR2, 5 BBY or in an alternate timeline...

I should be getting my copy today after work and if all goes well I should be playing it this weekend. :D
