This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

But they're set in the same world, GW.

This conversation seems familiar somehow...

Well, if anyone has any questions, I have the book now. I'm reasonably happy with it, but, again, it is pretty pricey if you don't already like the setting.

Blackhand

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the strategy I believe is the core Iron Kingdoms (Warmachine) in the core book, the next book deals basically with the eastern and northern wilds (Hordes).  The third one is exploring new areas, and new stuff.

You can stop with the basic book, if you like.

I wouldn't pick it up if I wasn't into Warmachine/Hordes, you're bound to be at least slightly disappointed considering every character option presented is literally directly from the wargame, and fully described in those volumes.  I can even show you each archetypes' miniature lines.

I also contest that the old Iron Kingdoms books I spoke of, are, in fact, the RPG.  That's separate from Warmachine.

All three books are only "basic" if you are into both Warmachine, Hordes, and all kindsa IK rpg from the get go.
Blackhand 2.0 - New and improved version!

Skywalker

The two issues I have heard of is that:

1. It is as reliant on minis as 3.5 is, if not more so; and

2. It suffers from a number of editing errors.

I have the older books for IK. They are D20 RPG, all of them. If there are other IK books then I don't know about them but I bought everyone I could find including locked and loaded.

where hear you of this?
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

The only one of significance is a missing character option on one of the tables. Most of the other stuff is missing ends of paragraphs, spelling errors, wrong page references, surplus paragraph breaks. Not lots, but enough to be noticeable from what I have heard.
