This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What're you doing here then? :)

AHHGGGGGGGGGGG
Mother^$&^$&%^$^&%$^%# FED EX

Ok then Emailed awhile ago, saying My Address Does not exist.
So I check it . The Address is 100% Correct.
I Use their Search Function to find the nearest store. Guess what it tells me my location does not exist too.
So I call the support numbers they directed me to. They give me the run around for an hour, telling me to another number. Each number refers me to another number. (4 phone numbers total), They had me going in circles.

So. I try looking up in the phone book the local fed ex number to actually call them. No luck, none of the Postal services are listed now. NONE.

My father drops by a few minutes go, bringing me some hot peppers he grew. He gets on the phone, and they bend over backwards. They tell him our address listed listed either. But he then settles it all in a few minutes. Not sure what he said as I was so pissed off that their lazyness.

I mean hell, Fed Ex was just here 2 days ago dropping off a package.

AaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh

Sorry for the rant.

Well It arrived yesterday. Seems their new GPS kept telling the driver to drive around the area and out of his way to avoid our location. Driver even showed me how screwed up the new GPS is. Even as he standing right where I was, it was not listing my road and alot of the area around it. It had a LAKE listed where I live. Hell I would have known something was wrong with the GPS when I noticed the Interstate I-75 was missing in spots also listed as LAKES.
Seems like FedEx needs to ditch the new GPS system or at least the local Fed Ex store.

OK.
IRON HEROES arrived. Looks Great so far. I'm not far into reading it yet however. But I'm liking what I have read so far.

It's a great game, one I feel far more excited about playing than standard D&D. The only place where it really falls down is the magic system, although there are a number of alternatives and patches out there that easily remedy the problem. Make sure you check out the villain classes in Mastering... and the Bestiary, they're a godsend for the creative, yet overworked GM.

Well I do not care for Magic in most systems. I just hate it for players to have for some reason. I'd rather have an NPC do that stuff.

I've seen way too may D&D games where the Cleric is the "healer" of the group, but because he sucks in combat he gets killed and then noone can heal him back to life. Or the Wizard who tries to rely on Magic Missiles or dumb enough to try to enter HtH range to swing with a weapon only to get killed.

But I have always noticed this. I always play a Warrior, Fighter, Barbarian type. I'm the only one in the group getting anything done. I'll come clase to death at times, but then I look around and the Cleric, Wizard, Rangers, etc are dead because the players do not use them wisely at all. They try to play then as Fighters. Which does not work at lower levels at all.

The few all Warrior games I have been in over the years were great. No deaths, only a few almost deaths here and there. These were the game everyone actually seemed to love. BUT, they would still in most games choose Clerics, Wizard, etc just to be "different".

At least in IH, each Warrior type is different, and seems to be right for the games we play in essence. So no need for magic users at all IMHO. No need for magic weapons, treasure. Taste cold Steel villian.

:D

You're right, there's very little need for magic using classes in IH as written. I've heard Mike Mearls was forced to insert the Arcanist at the last minute because Malhavoc were unsure they could sell a game without any spellcasters at all, which may explain balance issues and the rushed feel.

Do check out the magic items in Mastering... though, they're powerful, rare and flavourful in an "oh-fuck-we're-so-screwed" Moorcockian sense. Drink a magic potion more than a few times and you become addicted. Magical armour slowly grafts itself onto you. It's the kind of sorcerous equipment that Conan had good reason to be leery of.

Lacrioxus

Ohh yeah, the Magical iems are cool in Mastering IH. Magic Armors that Eat you or bond to you. Which is how I like magic to be. Something you might not want to actually have even if it provides a cool bonus to you.

I can picture a Full Plate magic armor that allow the character to heal faster when damaged. But it bonds to you. Now your in a Full Plate Armor 24/7 unless you wish to rip it off of yourself.
Or the more insidious Life Vampire armor, which eats your HP without you knowing it until your dead.

:D

Well I read the entire book cover to cover and the other two books.
Pretty darn good. Just the right amount of crunch actually. I really like the changes to the d20 rules. The less to no focus on magic is refreshing. The focus on Abilities and Skills are very well done. The new PC classes were great.

I could not help but feel like this was made for Conan novels and would be perfect for a new Dark Sun based setting.

Yeah, I was definitely getting a Conan Vibe myself.

The next step is to stat up some characters to get a feel for what they can do. Try making a 5th level Weapon Master with the Mighty Build trait, 16 Strength, a large Greatsword, Cleave, Power Attack and Improved Critical. Two attacks per round @ 3d6 + 2-10 (or higher with stunts) damage that crits on a 17-20. Scary.

Hackmaster

Hey, if you're bored, write up a few characters and do a combat actual play, to show the rest of us how it works.

Your Welcome Ronin. :D
What is everyone's favorite Class from IH ?
I like the Archer, Berserker, and Herrier the most so far. Man-at-Arms is not bad either for a General Purpose Class. I see the Arcane as an NPC class for themost part. Weapon Master is OK, but it is not grabbing me for some reason.

I'm thinking a character like Zorro, would be a Weapon Master though or a herrier.
