This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ghost Whistler

What would a fantasy take on 40k be like? Clearly it diverges from traditional (ie existing) WFRP significantly, so how would it be in reverse?
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

I think you mean SpellHammer.

That's my first reaction...

:D

Though then going from world to world would be "spellhamming". :hmm:

So the question becomes - 'what would 40K look like as a SF setting?'

Cole

As in "not in space?" Because as mentioned before, it's basically a fantasy setting.

I'd keep the chainswords and power armor, make them magic items. Drop the space travel. The Ecclesiarchy would be even more powerful, which is scary.

The same. "Fantasy" and "Sci-Fi" are only different genres due to a quirk of bookstore shelving. It's all part of "Speculative Fiction", as is horror, urban fantasy, etc.

Yes. Not in space. Nor with the aid of technology ('he said the t word my lord! call forth the inquisitor!')

And you wonder why this site is still much lower in population than RPGNet, when any given thread just has everyone jump in and crap on it.

People who are generally intelligent pretend they can't tell the difference between fantasy and science fiction just to fuck with another poster.

Ghost Whistler

I know, came out this week. I ordered it.

Sadly no Eldar.

Which makes the sheild relic that pisses them off (amongst other things) from RoB rather useless.

Anyway, back to the topic in hand, I thought it was an interesting enough question to ask.
