Title: Infinite story generator.
Post by: Richard-a-patterson on July 05, 2014, 08:28:35 AM
Hi. I wanted to start a discussion on my use of a spread sheet  for table top gamers. It that creates a unique 300 word story from an operationally infinite number of choices. It can be used by players to instantly generate a background for a character. It can be used for plots for campaigns.

Thanks Richard.

Your link is broke.

This, perhaps?

From the output, if feels a bit like a bad translation from a foreign language.

Grabbing this chunk...

QuoteKnow of this idol's oil spill, when they tried to protest for the devil. This is the story of an insecure Fidel Castro and when they felt most dominated, during a coming to terms...In Fidel Castro's cosmos there was a empathetic, grieved devil. An enduring junior skilled person thought to hold a meeting with Fidel Castro, about the devil. Fidel Castro reckoned that the junior skilled person's reverse strike might have them protest for this devil. They were apart in their methods of favor with this devil's inspiration. Fidel Castro then used empathetic favor and a composition on the devil.

...and running it through Arabic, for example...

QuoteWe know from the oil spill this idol, and when they tried to protest to the devil. This is the story of Fidel Castro is safe and when they felt the most controlled, through an understanding of the universe ... Fidel Castro, there was sympathy, sorrow devil. Person skilled young lasting thought to hold a meeting with Fidel Castro, for the devil. Significant Fidel Castro to strike a person skilled novices in the opposite direction may have to protest this devil. Apart they are in their own ways for the benefit of inspiration with this devil. Fidel Castro then used in favor tenderly and configuration on the devil.

...didn't really clean it up much.

I tried a couple dozen languages, and this was probably the closest to language that I could find.

It's an interesting idea, though.

Sounds like the text added to Spam e-mails to try and get by a Beyesian Filter.
Title: Interesting concept. - translating the output.

Thanks, it was interesting to see the translations of the text. I agree it does sound like random spam, but I know my earlier basic version, without so many terms and adjectives, was understandable. I will work further on seeing if I can make the 300 word version make more sense before reducing its number of strings which would also lower the number of stories it generates. Thanks for reporting the broken link. I hope my edits fixed this problem. Much appreciated. :)
