This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Indie RPGs at Christmas/New Years -- what are you running?

I usually run extra games around Christmas time. This is because all lot of my old high-school crew is back in town, and we like to get together between Christmas and New Years and play games.

On occasion I run some games for family around this time too. This year I have a few plans around that.

With the old crew
Been planning to run Fight to Survive: Martial Arts Meets Heart for a while. Diceless, multi-generational, different moves trump different moves. Gave one of the players the book as a gift so it's close to the top of the list.
The 13th Fleet is also a strong possibility. Think paranoia meets Battlestar Galactica -- with each player controlling a ship (FitD).
Some playtests of games I am working are also likely Supervillains Unleashed, Fabrication: A game that makes games, or God-Killer Prophecy.

With family
I'm actually planning a couple RPGs as Christmas gifts, with running them as part of the package.

Bettin' Bullets -- my mother loves westerns and horses, and recently expressed an interest in playing an RPG, so it just came together.
It uses some base stats and a wagering/auction style resolution to generate characters and resolve challenges.

WarpCrawl
-- father-in-law is a space fan (lots of trek) and this is a pick ship role, layout a deck of playing cards then go explore the galaxy. It's GMless and we usually play some kind of light boardgame over the holidays.

How about you?
I'm most interested in hearing about games that don't get talked about as regularly in these parts: Indie titles.
I define those fairly narrowly as games produced by what are primarily a single creator. Small press games are for those that are more of a team.
I also would spin OSR/NSR titles into a separate class -- at least for this discussion.

You get a point for mentioning an indie title, and just like on "whose line is it anyway" points don't matter.

I hope you all get some Merry Christmas gaming in.

**Discalimer: I am a bit "mercenary." Every title mention in this thread are ones that I sell (or will sell) on the Compose Dream Games Marketplace. A couple I haven't got to play yet, and it's important to know what you are selling :)

I'm actually hoping to finally break out the mothership stuff I bought. There's an adventure called Gradient Descent that I've wanted to play for ages, and I have a few people interested.

There are existing rpg groups in the area I moved to but they're all a little weird. I'm trying to cobble together a group out of 40k players, artists, and music people. They're still weird, but this time in a good way.

I hope you get it to the table soon!
Half a point for Mothership. Mostly because retailers are always asking if I have/can get copies and my answer is still no. (I have plenty of supplements, which they then usually pick up a few).
No the points don't matter :)

It is appearing to my great happiness that my group will be playing of Broodmother Skyfortress this weekend.  I have been reading of this and enjoying my reading, so am greatly pleased to being running it.

Too late! I already made a wall poster with stickers.
Fantastic.

I had to search for that! +1 for making me search. -0.25 for a Lamentations of the Flame Princess title cause OSR.
Hope your crew has a blast.

On Tuesday I played a game of Sekigahara: The Unification of Japan with my Dad (it was a present a number of Christmas's ago). It's too complex for him, but we have talked about giving it play through since my family lived in Japan for two years before I was born. It was nice to talk memories and have all the important battles take place at Gifu Castle which he went to about once a week.
This is a great asynchronous wargame/boardgame.

Since this is a boardgame I get -3 points.
