This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Well, I noticed that, but more, I always feel a bit betrayed when someone I share a modest amount of gaming tastes with expresses adoration for a game I don't much care for.

Plus, when the thought occurred to me to post that, coupled with my username shtick, I just just had to post it. ;)
The Secret Volcano Base: my intermittently updated RPG blog.

Running: Pathfinder Scarred Lands, Mutants & Masterminds, Masks, Starfinder, Bulldogs!
Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

Quote from: Dr Rotwang! No offense, dude, but your argument didn't do much to explain your experience and opinion.

I'm not sure that it was an argument. Rather, I think it was simply a statment. He (and his players) didn't much care for C&C. Why does that have to be an argument? Wait. . . wait. . . it's because this is the internet, isn't it ;)

Eh, I shoulda said, I guess -- I meant "argument" in the "debate" sense, not in the "STFU n00b im in ur base killen ur d00dz" sense.  So, I meant "argument" as a synonym for "statement".

So NYAAAHHHHH.

Glad to hear your game went well.  I was supposed to run it for the first time this past week, but the game got called on account of me getting food poisoning the night before.

I'm hoping to reschedule and run the game again in a couple of weeks.  I'm dusting off the old "Keep on the Borderlands" module, setting up a dozen or so small encounters in the wilderness around the Keep, and just letting the PCs wander to their heart's content with no direction from me for an evening.

Hopefully, it's fun.  If the group enjoys it, I hope to start a campaign of it in the near future.  In fact, hoping the game does well, I dropped a few bucks on some of the Mayfair games "RoleAids" sourcepack bundles which MFG is blowing out dirt cheap.  I've got enough stuff now between the C&C books, the MFG books, and my own fevered brain to keep my players busy for frikkin' years.

Years ago, Mayfair created these "RoleAids" sourcebooks for use with AD&D.  Things with titles like "Elves", "Dwarves", "Giants", "Dragons" and other 'race books'.  Later they did things like a whole series of supplements on demons, a boxed set on running a fantasy apocalypse (titled, unsurprisingly, "Apocalypse").

Anyway, MFG is now selling bundle packs of these things.  The packs are about $13 each, and you get upwards of ten books/boxed sets in each one.

Go here: http://www.mayfairgames.com/shop-special/roleaids/mfg-ra.html

I ordered the "Worlds and WOnders" and "Source and Backgrounds" sets.  I'm strongly considering going back for the 'Demons' and the "Adventure Set 8" some time soon.

I am running  C&C game this weekend with my family. It is my father's day gift from them. I was able to pick up some C&C books and modules and we spend a day playing.

I hope it goes well. Reading the rules, I found that it should be pretty easy to run and teach others to play. After this try I hope to get another group or groups up to play it.

Good luck to you.  C&C has given me a lot of enjoyment, I hope it does the same for you.

That's awesome.  I'd try something like that, but my son would probably just eat the dice.  Not that he's not already destined for gamer-dom.  He's only 20 months old, and already recognizes Cthulhu from the little plush critter my his grandmother gave him last month.   He calls it 'klulu'.

Very true, I have 4 kids. My oldest, she has just turned 13. Unfortunately not only did she become a teenager but is too smart for her own good as she is just finishing up her first year of High school. She jumped a grade and she was already young for her grade as it was. she will turn 17, six weeks after she graduates high school.

My other kids are 11, 9, and 7. I started playing rpgs at 7 so we shall see how it goes for my youngest. She is quite happy to be playing a halfling rogue in the same style as Bilbo.

So it will be interesting to see how the adventure goes. I am assuming a lot of kill them and take their stuff type mentality in the game.
