This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I just bought MRQII

Thanks again, Elliot; MRQ2 is on its way to me...and it only took the sacrifice of a couple six-packs of craft beer this month to do it.
For fuck\'s sake, these are games, people.

And no one gives a fuck about your ignore list.

As much as I hate to see anyone going without beer, I think you'll be pleased with the sacrifice.  Thanks also to Elliot - I picked up a second copy of the core book for my table from that ebay seller as well.  Great price on a great book.

In my opinion, MRQ2 is the best fantasy RPG out there right now.  Its become my go-to game for pretty much everything.

Well, it seems it's official, from now on, MRQII is the new rpgsite darling!! :D

And in my humble opinion, deservedly.
Grając zaś w grę komputerową, być może zdarzyło się wam zapragnąć zejść z wyznaczonej przez autorów ścieżki i, miast zabić smoka i ożenić się z księżniczką, zabić księżniczkę i ożenić się ze smokiem.

Nihil sine magno labore vita dedit mortalibus.

And by your sword shall you live and serve thy brother, and it shall come to pass when you have dominion, you will break Jacob's yoke from your neck.

I stopped gaming in the middle of the Runequest Renaissance. When I started gaming again I discovered the gaming scene had changed so much that I was on the verge of giving up, then Mongoose Runequest 2 came out. It is a modern rules set with a clear lineage back to the glory days of Chaosium. There's not many other rules sets out there that can boast such a pedigree. Best rules set I've played in any genre.

Openquest is damn good too, by the way.
Still waiting for Games Workshop\'s Questworld pack

For any of you wavering on the fence, I'd like to point out that the MRQII corebook is on sale this weekend...

Spike

From all the people buying it in this thread, does that make me the MRQII grognard?

Me and Psuedo, anyway...
For you the day you found a minor error in a Post by Spike and forced him to admit it, it was the greatest day of your internet life.  For me it was... Tuesday.

For the curious: Apparently, in person, I sound exactly like the Youtube Character The Nostalgia Critic.   I have no words.

Everything after page 43 of the rulebook is convoluted, narrativist bolshevism that only people too young to remember pages 1-42 could possibly like!

I humbly submit that you are correct, except that page 41 should, by all lights, be considered part of the later portion of the book.  Nothing good comes from page 41 except... no, nothing.

Page 41 is OK if it's used as intended: For tournament play only. Gamers nowadays are too young to remember the way we used to play back in 2009, so they misapply it b/c they're all brainwashed by the cult of the designer, and don't realise that Nash and Whitaker were building a framework supported by a culture of play, not a rigid canon like the newfangled magnetic fish crap they all play these days.

Yeah, I succumbed to temptation and put in an order for that, despite already having Chaosium's Stormbringer (1e).
