This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I just bought MRQII

And it looks promising.

I just read the chargen part, and is pretty easy and streamlined. I will post more as I read more :)

I feel I've made a good purchase.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

Claudius

I don't know about you, but I sure did make a good purchase. I have always been a big fan of RQ3 (in spite of some things I don't like), but I feel I like MRQ2 more than RQ3. And shortly I'll have a chance to try it.

Chargen is easy, but flavorful. This is something I miss in the BRP golden book, or in Stormbringer 5th. Chargen in RQ3 or Stormbringer 4th is very flavorful, characters feel like real people.

Have fun!

Spellslinging Sellsword

I went to the closest gaming store earlier this week to buy it and they didn't have it. Went to the second closest gaming store and they didn't have it. Went to the third closest gaming store and they didn't have it. At that point I said fuck it and went home and ordered it from Amazon. I should get it next week. Looking forward to it.

Tipsy

MRQ2 is pretty awesome. The combat maneuver system reads counter-intuitively, but freaking sings in play.

MRQ2 provides my favorite fantasy toolkit and deserves all the love its getting these days.

BTW, if you want to create your own backgrounds and professions:

All professions are 50 pts. of bonuses, where access to an advanced skill costs 10 pts. from that pool.

For backgrounds, split 90 points of bonuses up between Common skills (usually about 40 pts. worth), Combat Styles (10-30 pts.), and Advanced skills (10-50 pts.). Then give them Language (Native) +50%, +30% to Culture (Own) and +30% to Lore (Regional). Access to a combat style and the +10% for picking it during the background phase are worth a combined total of 10 pts., not 10 pts. each.
Running
The Pernicious Light, or The Wreckers of Sword Island;
A Goblin\'s Progress, or Of Cannons and Canons;
An Oration on the Dignity of Tash, or On the Elves and Their Lies
All for S&W Complete
Playing: Dark Heresy, WFRP 2e

Excellent purchase!  I think that MRQII is the best fantasy role-playing game written in the past two decades.

Well, that is a tall order, we'll see :) It looks promising, for sure.

Grats Imp, I think you're going to be pleased. I ended up picking up Monster Col. and Empires as well, and have not been disappointed at all. Check out Openquest too, for a little bit lighter and quicker yet compatible game. BRP rocks, and MRQ2 is the platinum album.

You bastards.  I had my finances for the month all in order, but you're going to make me screw it all up to get this game...I've resisted thus far, but this thread is pushing me over the edge.
For fuck\'s sake, these are games, people.

And no one gives a fuck about your ignore list.

Resistance is futile.  You will be assimilated.

KenHR, in the BRP renaissance thread I posted a link to an inexpensive eBay source for MRQ II. Might help keep you in the black.

I think you're going to be very satisfied with your purchase.

I'll add my voice to the chorus of praise on MRQII.  It's very solid.
