It was ten years after the Revolt of the Craftsmen. The City-State thrives as a place of commerce. It's a port of call for merchants, beggars, thieves and adventurers. Twenty thousand humans, elves, dwarves, goblins and trolls live behind three miles of wall, all alone in the wilderness. It is a dangerous place, but there is there is fame and fortune to be won. The year is 4433. The name of the place is the City-State of the Invincible Overlord.

You'd be extremely lucky at this point. The PG is unfindable, and, once found, pricey. You may want to bite the bullet and get the PDF. As a bird's eye overview of the setting it's very, very handy for the newcomer.

It also includes information on 'recent' history, cultures, races, gods, etc., not found in the big box set.

Some people don't consider it necessary, but for me this kind of information (even if I end up changing or ignoring it) is essential.
