This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

This week Precis Intermedia publishes RPGPundit Presents #58: Expanded Prior History Tables!

If you have Dark Albion or Lion & Dragon, you're already familiar with the prior history tables, which you roll during character creation as a great random method for generating an interesting element of backstory.  These vary from relatively mundane personal stories to unusual events to supernatural situations. In those books, the prior history tables had 30 entries.

In Expanded History Tables, this is expanded into 80 different entries, divided into four tables in order of increasingly unusual events. Your character could have an animal companion, suffered tragic heartbreak, have fought in a rebellion, have been a foundling orphan, have a false identity, have been the only survivor of an earlier party, engaged in a scandalous romantic affair, studied the healing arts, have survived an encounter with the living dead, or with elves from the fae realm, have somehow saved the life of a Lord, have survived a death sentence, worked as a smuggler, or as a child thief, have survived lycanthropy, have a famous relative, joined a secret fraternity, been the subject of a prophecy, or have inherited an item of great power. Or many, many other options.

The background events in the book are Medieval-Authentic, but can be easily applied to any OSR, D&D or other Fantasy RPG campaign. Some of them just provide roleplaying opportunities, while others grant bonuses, skills, penalties or disadvantages, or any combination of the above.

So be sure to pick up RPGPundit Presents #58: Expanded Medieval-Authentic Prior History Tables from DTRPG, or from the Precis Intermedia webstore!
