Title: How to Make the Best D&D Random Tables
Post by: RPGPundit on December 19, 2024, 08:45:41 PM
In this video, I talk about the process of how to make high-quality random tables that will let a DM run a game with near-zero prep time!

Good advice. More of that pipe-smoking silhouette would be awesome too.

Thank you! These instructive videos don't get as many views as my rants against WotC and/or Wokeness, so if you can, spread the word and share the video!

I enjoy your instructional videos more than your social and political ones.  Thanks for making them.

I'm in the process of making my own game/setting and the issue of making random tables was a bit nebulous for me.  The time was impeccable.  It's also worth pointing out that there are a lot of "how to GM" but not a lot of actual game design material  available.  You're helping create your own competitors.

I can take or leave the rants, I don't see myself running or playing whatever edition in the forseeable future, perhaps ever.

Concrete advice, however- that's useful. The GM of the current campaign I'm playing in suggested BoF as the next one and the walkthrough videos are very helpful.

That's OK, because if my competitors make OSR products, I'll be able to get inspiration from that and the more fans we all get the better.

Hi, thanks for this, loved the design philosophy behind it. I think I heard somewhere that a DM is a blind person leading a bunch of other (possibly drunk) blind people. Generating the next step via these tables is a concept that my 5e mind is still trying to grasp. Agree that having the DM discover the world just like the players is awesome for keeping the DM happy too.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. And for me it is a much more awesome feeling, as a DM, to generate a living world that I only slightly control and because of that lack of control feels becomes more real even to me, than to just act as a frustrated-novelist with a potemkin-village world.

These types of videos don't tend to get as many views as my rants against WotC or Wokism get, so if you liked it, please share it!
