This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

*I do buy old TSR stuff from Drivethru, which WoTC makes money from of course.

Oh no. That would change my reply. I've bought a ton of TSR stuff from drivethru to replace old and lost books.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Last WotC official product I bought was probably an adventure for 3e. Since 3.5 was released I haven't bought anything WotC, although I did take a look at the D&D Next playtest. Haven't bought any old TSR stuff from OBS either.

I'm quite happy Ryan Dancey - whether intentionally or not - preserved D&D for eternity for the players with the OGL.

Probably the 3E stuff. I got the 5E books as gifts.

And if I for some reason need more 5E, I'm sailing the seven seas. Period.

Rob Necronomicon

I had most of the original D&D stuff (basic, expert). Then I had a lot of the AD&D material.

But I've never bought anything since then. The only thing I might be interested in is some of the old TSR adventures such as the Isle of Dread. Assuming they made an actual electronic version and not some shitty scan.

Ever since the fall of a certain website that allowed you to view a game book before you bought it, I have been very careful about what I buy.  Doubly so with anything from Hazards of the Bro.

After their shenanegans with Strixhaven, where Amazon listed it as a "Bestseller" in the Greek & Roman mythology category, I don't trust anything they make.

I would, and do buy the .pdf's of the older editions though.

Rob Necronomicon

Yeah, if there was some older reference I wanted I'd probably buy a pdf too. But I'd never buy any of their newer stuff.

Abraxus

Beyond two possibly three more titles that I may need to round off my collection nothing else. Given the apparent train wreck that the 50th anniversary looks to be I will pass.

More interested in the Kobold Press stuff anyway. More bang for one buck and imo better designed even if they are woke.

Vidgrip

I bought the 5e PHB back in 2014. Everything else for 5e has been 3rd party.

Armchair Gamer

The last WotC-owned products I bought were POD reprints of I6, I10, and the first Ravenloft boxed sets back in 2019. Thenewest WotC products I bought were Curse of Strahd and the accompanying Tarokka deck in 2016. Those are also the only 5E products I own, and I'm planning to sell them off once I get around to sending a list to Noble Knight or taking things over to a Half Price Books. When playing 5E (because it's what friends want to run), I've relied on the Basic rules and the SRD, or borrowing someone else's PHB.

I haven't bought a thing from them since they made it plain that they didn't want me as a customer. That was 2012.

To be fair though there's been exactly one edition of D&D that really catered to my preferred playstyle so it's not like I've had much use for any edition of D&D.

Everything at first, and then nothing.

I bought the starter set, and then the core 5e books and I was very pleased.

At first, I got almost everything, skipping only two or three campaigns that got negative reviews. I have CoS, Volo's, ToA, Saltmarsh, Ravnica, etc. Some were good, some bad - usually both at the same time (awesome ideas lost in a sea of blandness and awful organization).

I love the art/layout and the rules are decent enough IMO. Better than 3e and 4e.

Then I started skipping a book or two that were not to my taste...

I think it was Tasha's that made me realize 5e was no longer for me:

(Before 5e? well, I bought a lot less. I used to play GURPS! :D )

With that said, I am ready to jump back on the bandwagon if they ever get their business straightened. But it seems they are going some other way, and I'm not really interested in 5.5 e coming soon.

I got the 3 core 5e books for a discount on amazon like.. I forget how many years ago, not after they were out, but they're still old enough to have RPGPundit in the credits.  Haven't gotten any other official products.   3e was the same.   Didn't get any 4e.

As a total of my collection I guess you'd say WoTC is less than 25% of my collection.

I bought quite a bit up until Tasha's Crock of Excrement turned me off on 5e for good. Now I don't even pay attention to D&D other than when new shit gets talked about here.

oh gawd Happy, you made me laugh. Needed that today. "Tasha's Crock of Excrement"...ah sigh

For me, I'm done giving money to people that hate me. My gaming dollar lately has been picking up 2e AD&D and a few oddities. Like I picked up The Fantasy Trip Legacy based on pundits video.
