This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

And you know what, that exactly captures how I have been unconsciously feeling over the past week or so of 5E revelations.  I have no horse in the PF vs 5E race.  I couldn't care less about how the box set turns out.  I am just glad to see the course correction of WOTC, and that they are apparently back in the game.

This will be good for the industry as a whole, and me as a consumer.  At least that is my take away from all of this.

Agreed though many are jumping the gun about OGL as the original poster's quote does when taken in context of the full post. All Mearls actually said is that OGL is in flux but it will be fully disclosed in 2015 nothing more or nothing less.

I am one who believes competition is good for an industry, and see a large overlap of where 5E is heading and where PF is positioned.  There will be loyalists on both sides, but I suspect there are more of us who just want good games, good products, and a good time. I guess what I am trying to say is that I think the debate over the OGL looses site of the larger battle over customer base.  Shades or narcissism aside, I feel that I am in the demographic of both companies, and I like it when folks fight for my (our) attention. The way I am seeing things, there is going to be a war over the (for the lack of a better term) "middle" gamer.  And this has me stoked personally and happy for the industry as a whole.
