This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Publish as in re-print or publish as in PUBLISH?

ColonelHardisson

I hope they retain some of the art from the original game books. The illustrations of the Trump pictures of the Amberites are the best depictions of those characters I've seen.

Also, the first Amber book, at least, was well-made. You could lay it flat and it wouldn't close on its own. Very nice.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

RPGPundit

Erick will have to clear those questions up himself when he feels ready to, but I would bet he's going after the same thing he wanted with GoO, as in a publishing of a new edition.

I'd be happy with the new edition.  I've neither read nor played Amber, and I have no desire to hunt it down.  I'd most likely pick up a new edition.

Cool. I've never played the game, but when I read the corebook I quite liked it :) I have yet to read the novels, though.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

Sosthenes

They should definitely get the illustrator for Avalanche Press to do a picture featuring Fiona. Or Flora. Or both.

Bagpuss

I'ld defiantly be interested in a new edition.

Ugh.

Well, maybe Flora.

More fool you.

Go, pick up a copy now. Its an utterly brilliant book that could change the way you game forever.

SunBoy

Just two words: whoo-hoo.
On second thoughts, though, I can't say the idea of a new edition displeases me, but I'd rather have it faithful and mostly unchanged from the original. It might really well be the best RPG I know of (Renegade Nuns on Wheels a close second :p ).

It's a great game, and it's a great series. The first pentalogy is quite superior to the second, but both of them are definitely worth reading.

Shameless plug: My players are asking me to extend my Amber short-intended campaign. I'm happy :D .

I dislike the actual game. However, Pundit is correct that it's a good read for anyone wanting to hone their GMing skills. Plus, if you have any inclination to use the concepts in the Amber series or the Amberites themselves in other RPGs, the Amber RPG makes for a helluva resource.

Mr. Analytical

Yes, you could do dungeon crawls set in Amber.

ColonelHardisson

Quote from: Mr. AnalyticalYes, you could do dungeon crawls set in Amber.

Yeah, but...what would be the point? It would have to be a dungeoncrawl that is more loosely defined, like how Corwin had to climb up to the celestial Castle Amber on a staircase made of moonlight and find the Pattern. A classic D&D-style dungeoncrawl might work once, but could get really boring.
