Hi all,
As I was watching the classic Arnold Swartzenegger movie tonight, Predator, I was reminded of all the media I've stole from over the years. It's awesome. I know I stated out the Predator for 2nd edition AD&D....but I can't find my notes, probably long gone. If your group was like mine, when the movie came out my player's wanted to fight the Predator.
So hit me with your stats of the Predator. I'd love to see AD&D, OSE, DCC especially.
I'll post mine later after I work them up again.
Also, post stats from any media you stole from back in the day. Like General Kail from the movie Willow, or daskdraudigs from the Paksenarrion saga, or the Joinings from David Gemmells works.
Hmm. I don't have anything on hand, but some ideas:
Code of the hunt: The yautja pride themselves on hunting the most dangerous game. They prefer to stalk prey that has at least hit dice/levels equal to the yautja's, minus one, at the bare minimum. Most prefer to stalk targets of +1 HD/level.
Cloaking device: Many yautja possess a cloaking device that grants a form of limited invisibility. While not 'true' invisibility, the cloaking device grants a substantial bonus to stealth checks and grants concealment.
Breathing mask: A yautja that loses their breathing mask can survive for a time, but after 24 hours without one, they must make a Constitution check or be fatigued.
I had the Predator at 18/00 strength, excellent climbing and acrobatics skill levels, excellent stealth levels (due to cloaking) and the cloaking worked similar to a displacer beast once you pinned them into a fight if they were still cloaked.
Had the double blades act as double short swords of sharpness (so 2-12+2 damage as a base before strength bonus, and losing a limb on a roll of 19 or 20) Predator fought as a 10hd monster and got 2 attacks per round, 3 if he had plasma caster mounted.
Plasma caster was basically a fireball launcher that launched 8d6 fireballs with a smaller blast radius (5 feet).
Didn't really import creatures.
What we did do back in my elementary school B/X days; was go for the cool weapons.
I forget what we did for damage on these but:
The Glaive from the movie Krull... totally a magic weapon. And of course we had one.
Also Freddy Krugers glove from Nightmare on Elmstreet.
We called it a: "Glove of Knives", and it was BadAss.
Because swords were for pussies.

I'm a moron.....I didn't know they had a name besides the Predator. Cool.

Oh gads yes. The Glaive from Krull. We had the repeating crossbow from Hawk the Slayer....oh, oh, and the double crossbow from Ladyhawke. Swooned for Michelle Pfeifer.
I'm working on DCC stats but nothing I'm happy with yet.

When stating such things up...
They key is to make them one of a kind items, and to have everything else comparable on the weapons list fucking suck by comparison.
If they see an NPC with one, they should want to kill them to have it.
Oh - I almost forgot the three bladed sword form 'The Sword and the Sorcerer'...
Now that was a sword for men who would be men!

There's some novels out there that actually tell the tales from the Predators' view point.
My favorite is one where it's established that after the events in Predator 1 and 2 (this was well before the later movies), the yautja put restrictions on going to Earth, because humans were proving to be really dangerous game. There's a bit where two yautja agree that humans are only slightly less dangerous to hunt than xenomorphs.
