This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

My impression is this is medium sized publishers (for the rpg market anyway) who might be getting squeezed by consolidation on the physical rpg distribution end.  I'd need to lookbit up more but i thought Asmodee and Diamond distribution where getting pretty much a lock on physical distribution.   This might give them more options should continuing with Diamond/Asmodee prove unbearable.

God damit wrong thread!

Personally i see it having little chance to succeed long term.  If it is a consortium of existing publishers instead of a individual separate company with its own profit goals one of the members will be doing more work for less benefit or for excessive control at some point.  That's usually when things break down.

The middle guys are in a tough spot. Too small to force someone to listen above but too small to go it alone.

They would be wise to link up Allen Varney at bundleofholding.com and be an additional host for copies.

So I'm looking at the latest 7th Sea update and it's a cluster of fuck. Not in that they don't have a handle on things, but because there're so many things to handle. And despite that customers still had to fill out a KS survey in order to get an email they had to fill out from Backerkit in order to get a coupon for their products from DTRPG which they should have received in email already.

First publishing platform which addresses all this nonsense wins.

RPGPundit

Yeah, it sure looks like these guys are not quite ready for prime time.  Of course, they might fix things up.

If not, it still makes me hope that something else will come along.
