In "Gatecrashers", a cross genre RPG made a long time ago by a company called, I believe, hot tub dragon, they had swarm creatures called "Golf balls from hell" that looked like golf balls with little demonic eyes and mouths.

Vampire Kobolds.

Got the idea listening to a re-vamp they did for a D&D CRPG, where they added a (optional) 9HD Vampire Kobold to the second level of a dungeon, just to mess with players.

Townsfolk were a little blaise about the Kobold raids, generally turning them away before they got to the second wall. Not that game! :p
