Congrats on the finding, Drohem. Now you got the moral duty of playing the shit out of it.

Congrats Drohem. I had a similar experience when I took delivery of a copy of the limited collectors edition of WFRP2e.
Quote from: The Butcher;532553I hear you, man. I've been through the same with WFRP 2e recently (still waiting for it to arrive, BTW. Air mail to Brazil takes forever).
It'll be worth the wait!

In a similar vein, I found a copy of Tome of Corruption on eBay t'other day that wasn't too extortionate... :-)

PS: FYI, the Rules Cyclopedia is one of the books I grabbed on PDF back in 2008 before Wizards pulled them. So glad I did.

Quote from: Kaz;532526The prices on the RC are really weird. I got my copy last year (or the year before) for $13 at Half Price Books.

Got mine at Half Price Books for $13 also. I would rate mine as shelf worn. It doesn't look like it was used at all.

Quote from: Drohem;532517OK, I have to share this with people who can appreciate it! :)

Yesterday turned out to be a great day:  took the wife and kids to the Shriner's Circus in the morning; dropped them off for nap and went to for a ride on my HD; stopped at my LFGS (Black & Read) and (cue angelic music and white light) there it is on the shelf behind the counter- a pristine, white spine and all, copy of the Dungeons & Dragons Rules Cyclopedia.

Black & Read is totally that sort of shop, too - dropping by, looking over what they've got used... it's a lot of fun digging up something you're interested in. I remember getting a copy of the fifth edition of Hero super-cheap there once.  Now that the shelves are better organized, it's a lot easier to _find_ things there, too.  Now, of course, I want to run up and look through the shelves, but it's easier to talk my wife into it when she can go into the Hobby Lobby next door... and they're closed on Sundays.

Congratulations!  I got my RC a while back on ebay, and it's in pretty good condition.  (Or, I think it was ebay.  It might have been at one of the local game cons.)

Awesome news! Congratulations on your find.
I love my Cyclopedia (its the second I've owned. My sister ran off with the first.)

Yeah. I think it's because HPB doesn't know what they have on their hands, so it's naturally half the cover price.

Although, I have seen very rare box sets in there that have been priced out of my range and marked as rare on the price tag. So, sometimes they know what they have, sometimes they don't. I don't know how rare it is or hard to get, but I got a 1st Edition Fiend Folio for like $7 there.

Congrats, and ain't it always cool to make a find like that?

For me, I've done well with my bookstore finds over the past few years - I seem to have a horrible compulsion to buy WHFRP 2nd edition rulebooks whenever I find them and I'm sort-of-looking for a 3rd copy of Adventure! to keep at the office (of course).

I'll keep my eyes up fer ye, Marley, maybe I'll come across a copy of the RC again sometime.
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

Unfortunately, that particular volume is easy to find at around that price.

It seemed to me that just a few years ago the price jumped dramatically on the Rules Cyclopedia and at the same time the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2e stuff.  At the same time.

That was right about the time D&D 4e was published, come to think of it...

Coincidence?  I think not.

I think that the rise in price of WFRP2e stuff had more to do with it going out of print when FFG decided to do 3rd Edition than with the release of D&D 4th Edition.

Blackhand

Even before 2009, when 3rd Edition came out, the prices on books already out of print went up.

Tome of Corruption was the first one, followed by Children of the Horned Rat.

I stand by my D&D 4e premise.
