This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

QuoteDescent also drops the silly notion that the game isn't competitive and pits the "PCs" in direct competition against the "GM".

Yeah, baby! :)

Heroscape is a good game.  I like the semi-collectible aspect - you can buy add ons but they're not random.  The big difference between it and Heroquest is focus: Heroscape is a skirmish game and Heroquest is an rpg.  Heroscape revolves around building small armies and fighting on unusual terrain.  You don't have one fig per person or much powering up of figs.

If redoing Heroquest, I'd make it more colorful, get colored figs, and add more mystery solving.  Probably also add a you to denote power ups on the figs instead of just on paper - either selling sets of figs for a character or spots that items can be stuck into.
