This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: mattormegPundit, when I first saw the title of this thread I thought you were looking for hand-outs! Glad to see otherwise. I'd hate to see you pull a Kevin Siembeida on us.

LOL, no, I buy my own RPG books.

Of course, if someone has a spare copy that they want to mail me, I sure as hell won't say no!  ;)

Or, for that matter, if someone involved in BI wants to send me review copies...

Your subtlety is legend, Pundit.

If anyone picks up the Tome of Corruption, kindly dish up a review here.

The biggest problem I have with WFRP is that those hardbacks are so damn costly.  It turns every purchase into a damn long-term investment.

Part of me would like to run the Chaos Wastes as I've heard they were in the days of Lost and the Damned: An entire continent of psychopaths in chaos armor, some with plasma weaponry.

How could that miss?

Personally, I'd like to get my hands on the cult info in Tome.  Most of my game centers on the friction between the cults of the Empire, most of which are run and populated by dilletantes, and the real Chaos threat.

I have the mental image of a bunch of pampered aristocrats worshiping Slaanesh just to keep from getting bored.  Then the Keeper of Secrets manifests him/herself in their latest preteen sex toy, the Slaangors are at the gates and their "loyalty" means fuck all.

Sometimes, honestly, I think WFRP seriously overdoes the "secret cults" thing... I mean, its getting to the point where you'd have to imagine that there's a chaos cult in every second household.  I like them, but they lose a lot of their sense of shock and impact if there's more "ultra secret chaos cults" threatening the empire than there are goblins.

I mean fuck, when they've become the empire's equivalent of a Starbuck's, it really becomes old news...

I think it becomes the responsibility of the GM in that mater to pick and choose the level of conspiracy that he wants in his game.  For me I certainly hint that there is something nefarious going on just behind what the players constantly see to keep them on edge.  But that's now always the case.

I mean at the end of the day the Old World is a place where normal people live and thrive.  There can't be evil behind every turn or the world would quickly be blotted out.  Now that could happen down the line but not within the current time line for WFRP.

Incase people haven't seen it yet...

Tome of Corruption

The world dies. A foul disease infects it, spreading its taint in the winds, in the waters, polluting the very land itself. And wherever it touches it breeds corruption, manifesting as mutation, malformation, leaving it altered, changed, and utterly mad with the wickedness it instils. This is Chaos, the shadow that hangs over the Old World and beyond. It is the terrifying threat of the north, looming large in the minds of Men, Elves and Dwarfs alike.

Now, this potent force is revealed for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay with the Tome of Corruption. This expansive volume reveals all the secrets of Chaos, exploring it in lavish detail. From the countless varieties of Mutants and Chaos Spawn, to the Beastmen that haunt the unclaimed depths of the Forest of Shadows and the Drakwald, to the horrific Daemons spawned from nightmare, this sourcebook contains everything you ever wanted to know about Chaos in all its disturbing forms.

Inside this blasphemous tome, you’ll find:

    * Over 150 new mutations to create unique and awful Mutants, customisable based on the Dark God they serve.
    * Detailed information on Cults in the Old World such as the perverse Sybarites and the Foetid Maw.
    * Guidelines for building new cults, as well as details for creating cult leaders like the Cult Acolyte and Cult Magus.
    * An assortment of Chaos Objects such as The Grim Feast and the Catalogue of Flesh.
    * Exhaustive information and guidelines on creating Beastman foes, drastically expanding the information found in the Old World Bestiary.
    * A slew of new Chaos-touched monsters such as the Amphisbaena, Basilisk and Jabberwock.
    * A gazetteer on Norsca, with guidelines for creating Norscan Characters and running Norscan campaigns.
    * Details on the savage peoples of Chaos, including the Kurgan and the Chaos Dwarfs.
    * Extensive rules for playing servants of Chaos with new careers, rewards, and gifts of the Chaos Powers.
    * Over 100 new Chaos Weapons and bizarre magic items to better fight for the favour of the Dark Gods.
    * Expanded Lores of Chaos for those Black Magisters who worship Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch, including new spells including acquiescence and flesh puppet.
    * Expanded Side-Effects tables for those who dabble in Dark Magic.
    * Full statistics for all the iconic Daemons of Chaos, including everything from the pathetic Nurgling to the dreaded Keeper of Secrets.
    * New insanities and diseases.

Extensive information on the Chaos Wastes as well as the strange places one might find there.

OH yeah they are bringing back the Jabberwock now finally WFRP 2nd ed is complete.
