This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Help me!

I just called my FLGS and they have the reprints and ACKS and DCC on the shelves.  But no way I can even try to pay for them until late August.  They won't preorder. What do I do? Custom covers no less!

I already own ACKS and I'm still wondering whether to drop that kind of money for the reprints or DCC (I think I've spent too much money on RPGs this year already), so make of this what you will.

I'd go for the reprints first because every single motherfucking last old school gamer seems intent on picking up those beauties, so I kind of expect them to fly off the shelves (my RPGsite and OSR blog reading biases may be showing here). DCC and ACKS are new games, hopefully with a long lifespan before them.

Was thinking the same but no way they will be there in another month? Seriously?

That's just how good my FLGS btw and why I refuse to do the online thing. I really want to support them.

You need to think outside of the box.  The sexy avatars are the perfect opportunity to convince lonely geek guys to buy those books for you. ;)

Technically, that would be inside the box. ;)

Seriously though, get the reprints first.  Pull the trigger on one and keep an eye on Noble Knight Games to check their stock.

You guys are TOTALLY embarrassing me.  That was going to be next question by PM to my FRIENDS.  To see if they'll wheel and deal.  I just didn't want to be obvious.

I'd go for the reprints or DCC now, depending on which of the special editions you want the most, then pick up the other one later on. If you get the reprints now, at least there's the standard version of DCC around; you can still get a new book for it, even without the shiny.

There's no shortage of ACKS, it can wait.

Thanks Ladybird.  Reprints now, DCc then ACKS. Your girl have the baby yet?

Totally screwed by the way. But that's a good plan.

Have you asked them if they'll put them on hold for you for a small lay-a-way type fee?

I'd love to get them myself, but broke so broke, with our upcoming move.

I didn't think of that. Given every book I asked for is right there.  Crap!

As I said I am broke at least to late August if not September. I shall ask SL.;)
