If I wanted to do something that used the system from BoL, I'd look at the Everywhen RPG, which is a more generic version of BoL.

Idea, don't use either careers or skills beyond those already included in the class/race Instead give them each appropriate class feats:

He-Man.- Mighty Leap, etc
Skeletor.- Life Siphon (treat like vampire bite or energy leech), etc.

These should be already on each class from the start.

Disclaimer, the idea comes from the MotU boardgame cards, so if you have those you're already ahead of the game.
