This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hasbro still hasn't fired Kyle Brink, but they have just fired an entire continent of (presumably 'latinx') employees.

Jesus Christ... WotC is really just a shitshow of epic proportions. Well I guess all the chickens are finding their way home. We'll just enjoy the show.

"Latinx" is the most egregious example of outright Marxist destruction of a language possible. Also, LOL at getting fired because you literally ignore your target market and focus on the dumbest stuff possible.
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

I just like seeing the DNDBeyond Forums going off about how its racist of Wotc shutting down the Brazilian HQ.  Anything that causes harm to WotC image with the wokesters I'm all for.  I would love to see D&D burned down to the ground from a profitability perspective and force Hasbro to sell the brand.  Just about any other company could put out better content than Hasbro/WotC.  The staff for D&D is cut to the bone and they hire diversity commissars to police speech meaning at best D&D can put out one crap book a quarter of questionable quality and use.

Activision/Blizzard can get in that line too

I mean, this is one thing...

But also OW2 seemed to have fun yesterday...

While I enjoy the irony of seeing yet one more thing that some social justice warriors say turn out to just be raw hypocrisy, I don't think that WotC or Hasbro actually cares if their woke forumites actually believe their crap.  They managed to see through their multiple lies on the OGL, but somehow never spent too much time talking about the fact that WotC kept coming right back to a "morality clause" and citing that as casus belli against the entire gaming community (there were some people on the left who DID call this out, but it was definitely an opinion that would get you mass downvoted on reddit).  You would think that them feebly attempting to raise this banner repeatedly would make everyone in that camp step back and notice that Hasbro is transparently using their social cause to rally support for their abusive economic tricks, but also no.

Basically, I think Hasbro (and many companies) do things that are woke because their investors, or even their entire upper management, believes that either one of their main purposes of their company, or even their entire purpose, is to push a set of ideologies that have been marketed as The Good-Guy Thing.  Profit, market share- these are either co-limelight sharers, or even strictly secondary.  Simultaneously, they also try to get as much marketing out of their social positions as they can, pushing it hard in areas where they believe it will get good responses, and minimizing it in areas where they do not believe so.  RPG Pundit's video on Radiant Citadel mentions the disparity in marketing- anywhere normal people will see it, the setting's dragons and combat are emphasized in the marketing, but crawl around in the woke-o-sphere and the main selling point there is "It's the most ethical product because no white people profited from it directly!  Or rather we'll imply that as a selling point, because it isn't true, but we want you to think it is!".  I think that's the idea- push an ideology, profit from it where you can, minimize mentioning it where it won't be profitable, and never ever stop pushing that ideology.

Keep besmirching the fuck out of WotC and keep turning people away from the company.  WotC has been downgraded a few time snow and their profits continue to sink.  The left think that if they can just hurt WotC's bottom line more they will become good communist agents, meanwhile it will just make D&D unprofitable and it will be sold for pennies on the dollar to Goodman, Kobold, Frog God etc.  And the leftards will have to start all over again, while the new company realizes why it failed and will build a moat to keep the nutters away.

Leftard firms won't be able to string together $100M loan to buy D&D while other firms will be.  If you compare Kobold, Goodman, Troll Lord and Frog God for instance, the level of wokeness there is more inline with normal societal values than what D&D is offering now.  I mean my God, woke Goodman actually has women in chainmail bikinis', Oh gawd, Chainmail Bikini's you say!  I'd rather have Goodman rather than WotC controlling D&D now.

Pundit, you've been told about the Elephant and Macaw Banner by several people, now, but the fact is that even way back in the '90s, the first Brazilian RPG was a fantasy heartbreaker called Tagmar which was bog-standard AD&D style fantasy but used an action resolution table probably cribbed from Marvel Super Heroes. The second Brazilian RPG (by the same company, GSA Editorial) was a Colonial-themed RPG called o Desafio dos Bandeirantes, which was essentially adventuring in Colonial Brazil with magic and creatures from folklore (not the least of which was the common werewolf, which for some reason has a lot of legends about it in the interior or Brazil).

Now, Desafio was fairly popular, but not necessarily because of Nationalist themes, but because the setting was practically a perfect game to do a hexcrawl (even though the repopularisation of hexcrawls was still twenty years into the future at that point). A swords-and-muskets game about exploring the jungle looking for fabled cities of gold is a very good premise for an open table, practically as good as pushing back Chaos at Blackmoor. The national folklore themes were almost an aside, looking back on it.

Unfortunately, in around '96 or '97 there was a spike in the international price of paper and GSA Editorial went bankrupt; but maybe if it hadn't we might see some cross-polination of this Bandeirante/Conquistador themed settings and the OSR. And then we'd have RPG Pundit's Swords and Cities of Gold Companion for Old-School Colonial Play?

Well, it's not role-playing drinking mate, but it comes close...  ;)

I don't share your optimism, but I'd absolutely love to see it go down like this.  Keep in mind, this relies on the most extreme voices steering that ship, which is definitely a possibility.

I'm all for casting dispersions on WotC's intentions whenever and whereever.  Drive WotC to continue to be more and more woke.  Drive WotC to continue to offend and chase away paying customers as WotC goes into terminal woke.  BofA is on its second downgrade of WotC over overmonetization.  Every D&D Book WotC puts out, sells less and less as more people can't stand the smell of feces coming from the pages.  WotC had to apologize over a picture of a flying squirrel monkey because according to leftards all monkeys are black people now.  You can use that attack in stating something is wrong with WotC and you don't think like that and can't support buying their product and turn off a lot of people from buying their content.  IF someone objects, then state they must think like Yu Huiping, because that is what his art portrays and he's a horrible person, you aren't a horrible person you are a good person or at least want to be good right?

WotC decided to chase wokebucks due to the 2020 riots, that is when corporate got scared of the fascists and did what they were told.  Well lets make WotC commit suicide and follow the leftards rules.  If it would take one person a week to write 20 pages, then lets make it require 5 people a week to do 20 pages with sensitivity writers and political commisars and additional diversity hires.  Just bitch non-stop on social media with sock puppets.  When you can get streaming sites to cover D&D's decline into woke nonsense.  If you go to a local hobby shop, casually mention if they think they'll see a decline in D&D sales with D&D now bundling the book and D&D beyond bundle.  Get the hobby shop owners to turn on D&D because D&D is eating their lunch.  The left got WotC to turn on its customer base, ok what do you think will happen to WotC when their actual customers turn on them?

[...] adventuring in Colonial Brazil with magic and creatures from folklore [...]

Dragão Brasil (Brazilian RPG magazine, totally not-Dragon magazine ) also used to have a thing or two about Brazilian folklore transported to RPG. At least, before they went all-in with the weaboo stuff, including Defensores de Tóquio (the game the Pundit mentions being about mechas, I believe) and even Tormenta: the Brazilian-version of the anime-version of D&D-style fantasy.
