This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hard-To-Find and Out-Of-Print Games You Wish You Owned

What hard to find, out of print game do you wish you owned?

Myself, I'm dying to get my hands on TSR's old 'Conan' game (which, apparently, used a system similar to FASERIP).  Although a free reproduction of the core rules is gradually being made available here, I would really love to own the original box set myself.

*sigh*

Same here. It sounds awesome.

Other than that... Lords of Creation. I don't know for sure that it's good but I'd like to find out.

The Traveller "Lost Supplements" by the Keith bros. (Cargonaut Press).

And this Dragon game by Tom Wham with the map by Darlene.

I'm afraid to publicize the OOP games I wish I owned, for fear of further driving up the prices if it prompts someone else to check them out and decides they're cool.

So, my lips are sealed :)

I'd have to say Prince Valiant, but I doubt I'll ever get my hands on that.

I got a copy for $8 plus $3 for shipping on eBay about four months ago.  Keep looking, and don't bid too early, too high.  Good luck and don't lose hope!  ;)

Don't give up, I've seen a few on ebay, they are rare but they do show up there (thats where I got mine, :) )

I played LoC for the first time yesterday.  My group got some funs results out of it.

I thought those were still available for purchase somewhere.

Search for the Emperor's Treasure, right?  The map was gorgeous.

Yes, Search for the Emperor's Treasure. IIRC I actually HAD it back in the day, then threw it away, then forgot all about it, and now I want it badly.

OK, so having read your blog LoC is now a must-buy.

Re. Cargonaut, are you thinking of this website?

It only *looks* active. CP closed shop in 2005. Sigh.

Playing: Sigh. Nothing.
Planning: Some Cyberpunk thing, system TBD.

I know a place where I could buy you a mint copy when their doors open first thing tomorrow morning.  Regrettably at cover price ($21.95).  They're sort of freaks who seem to have resolutely rejected the Internet as a means of liquidating old stock.  That said, I paid cover price for my copy, and it's worth every penny, first and foremost just to own it, but also to avoid the anxiety and irritation of nailing it down on eBay.

Oh, and it was pretty much the only OOP game that I've really wanted in recent years, though some of the more obscure Traveller supplements and such have been catching my eye.  Before Prince Valiant it was Striker.

There are many OOP games that I'd be thrilled to pay cover price for a mint condition copy.  (Including PV!)

I bought it brand new when it was released. Still own it. Sorry, I won't sell it. I'm sure you understand.

Another one I bought brand new, and still own. Very, very simple game, involving the flipping of coins as the core mechanic.

I owned it for years, thought it sucked, and sold it some years ago. I don't remember much about the system itself, but I do remember being underwhelmed.

That's my pick, too. I've tried to pick it up on eBay a number of times, but the bidding always goes way above what I'm willing to pay. Given the general praise of it over the years, and from what little I've seen of it online, especially the artwork, I wish Chaosium would get off its comatose ass and re-release the goddamned thing, or sell it off to someone who will. Maybe the licensing is too rich for their blood. Someone needs to talk to Larry Niven about this...

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

Name a few, I'll take an inventory the next time I'm in the neighborhood. :)

Thanks for the recommendations, but it's not quite the same thing as the 'Conan' game.  There are a few important differences.
