This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I have both.:D

I've often wondered if 1st edition had anything that was omitted from 2nd edition.

Quote from: gale_wolfThe RPG I want is Privateers & Gentlemen since my copy is so battered I feel I need a replacement.

Now that is a hard one to get, I've seen more copies of Ringworld and Dune than this,

1st edition (1975) was 34 pages.  2nd (1979, reprinted in 84) was 36.   I don't believe anything was omitted.

Of course, 3rd Edition (1990) used a completely different rules system, and sucked ass.

Quote from: McrowI have a friend who has 2 copies of Ringworld.

I wouldn't mind having a copy myself.

Damn! 2 copies? Sheesh.

Has anyone ever gotten any response from Chaosium as to whether or not they ever plan on re-releasing this in some form, or let someone else do it?

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

Hmmm, that's an interesting appraisal of 3e ;)  Personally I like it and my group used to play a lot of one-shots using it. But then, none of us had the earlier editions to compare it with anyway...

Blue Devil

Quote from: J ArcaneA print copy of Time Lord.

There's ONE on eBay right now, and of course, I'm broke.  It's the first copy I've ever seen for sale.

I shall probably have to make do with setting up a private project on Lulu of the free Internet release, the way I did with the Fallout TRPG.

I jsut can't stand not having an actual book for a game.

I am bidding on Time Lord right now.   I hope I win it because it would be nice to actually have the book to read instead of dealing with the .PDF

I've got Lords of Creation and good isn't a term I'd apply to it, but I've also got Galloway's Fantasy Wargaming, which is so dreadful that I simply have to run it some day!

I wish I'd hung on to KABAL, but I was downsizing and put it in the garbage.  Couldn't recycle it, too much risk of suck seepage getting into the ground water.

The was a little game in two books entitled Warrior and Wizard I've always wanted.

I'd also like a copy of Lands of Adventure, which I gave away a copy of once.

The Sentry Box in Calgary still has one or two copies of Worlds of Wonder and they've got an on-line store too.  I got War Law there for a mere $40.

There have been so many collectable or rare games that I was soooo curious about.  Some took me over a decade to obtain, before the internet and eBay (Monsters! Monsters! For example).  I used to have a network of people I called all over the USA for rare games.  I would call about once a month, and by the time I found the item I had paid more in long distance bills than the item would ever be worth. :)

In any case, I’m sad to say that I’ve obtained all the rare games I wanted to see.  Most of them were utterly disappointing (especially with the built up anticipation of what they would be like after years of searching) and I ended up selling them off.

I do have a few “collectables” that I’m thinking of selling off in the near future, just because I’m tired of hording junk that I don’t look at much anymore, and will never play.  I’ve also have gotten over that simple joy of having something in my possession that I used to have.  I figure I’ll make some other person happy who has been looking for them.

But I haven’t completely decided yet. :)  This will reduce my collection even further, only keeping the games I actually play, and the ones I would play if I could ;).  The only one I would keep for pure nostalgia would be my AD&D 1st ed books…only because I played that one so much more in comparison to any other game.

It's a lovely game. I managed to geta  copy a couple of years back (still in shrink wrap, to boot) and it is very nice. Chaosium really should make it available in PDF or something, it's one of those underappreciated classics. Underappreciate dbecause no one can get their hands on it!

Cheers

I don't recall the exact details, but there are complications with re-releasing it in any form.  The fact that it's based on a licensed property is most obvious, but there's also the fact that it might cost Chaosium money that they don't have to do it.  In the meantime, there's always this .PDF scan of FutureWorld, its predecessor, available from this Romanian-hosted website.
