This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hard-To-Find and Out-Of-Print Games You Wish You Owned

Explain to me why Exalted isn't being spotlighted.  It's hugely popular at RPGnet.  Hell, during the heyday of 1st edition most of the first page of Open was Exalted threads.  Any "what system should I use" question always always got at least one person saying "Exalted, of course!".

"I like the basic premise of Nicotine Girls, but I want additional rules for exploring the world of young crossdressers coming to terms with their sexual identity in turn-of-the-century Manitoba."

"Have you tried Exalted?"

QuoteYou aren't the only one having this knee-jerk reaction to the change though

Calithena is one of the most lucid thinkers I know.  To call any action of his "knee-jerk" strikes me as a dubious proposition.

Thanks, Jeff. By the way, the Diamond House Bed & Breakfast in Arcola is a seriously nice place to stay. The breakfasts are AMAZING. It's over $100 per night, so pricey for the area, but if you have visitors or want to take a trip yourself and don't mind spending some extra money it's a nice place for a long weekend. The Amish country, Rockome gardens, etc. give you stuff to do during the day.

As to big purple...no reason to discuss it more here, but since people are taking up the thread, I'll just say what I said there: I really value truly OPEN rpg forums. My model for a fun rpg site remains the early issues of Dragon and Alarums & Excursions, where all games get taken up side by side, individually or comparatively. I was opposed to moving Exalted off the main site too, even though I don't play it and don't have much interest in the game (the system is way too cumbersome for me). I'm all about cross-pollination.

You mean its second own forum.

Myself, I'm dying to get my hands on TSR's old 'Conan' game (which, apparently, used a system similar to FASERIP).  Although a free reproduction of the core rules is gradually being made available here, I would really love to own the original box set myself.

*sigh*

I may be wrong but a place down the road from here has a copy of this-but I have no idea if it's the one you want, or a newer edition. (If there is such thing.)

I saw it only in passing, but it was a thick hard cover Conan book. I'll see if I can snag it next time I am there.

Oh, and if we're including board games, Sword & Sorcery, also by SPI. I usta get the biggest kick outa Chairman Nashkund, leader of the Red Orcs of the O. R. C. (Orcish Revolutionary Council). Also dug the killer penguins, and X the Unknown :)

I own this! I love it! It's one of my favorite pieces game memorabilia that I never quite got to use! I have used portions of it to supplement my Shadowrun game for years now. I picked it up in a used book store in Mount Pleasant.

Sadly, if it's a hard cover book, then it's probably not the game in question.  As far as I know, the TSR Conan game was released as a box set only.

If it has a cover of Conan going nuts in some ruins while a couple of beasts are creeping up behind him, though, then it may be the game in question after all (the artist was DSL, iirc).

Bastard :D  The only thing I might want as much would be the James Bond RPG Q Manual (not the whole game, just the Q Manual). Otherwise, Top Secret will always be THE espionage rpg as far as I'm concerned. I remember I usta have a dragon adventure for it that had these russian agents, and chinese agents in it, and some kinda warehouse.... great memories.

Great, but not terribly clear? ;) :D
Heroism is no more than a chapter in a tale of submission.

The internet recognizes only five forms of self-expression: bragging, talking shit, ass kissing, bullshitting, and moaning about how pathetic you are. Combine one with your favorite hobby and get out there!

I can't remember the name of the adventure, just that it had russian agent npcs, chinese agent npcs, and then the pcs all running around working against each other in a covert (and sometimes not so covert) free-for-all.

I wish for a copy of Cutthroat Roleplaying, the thief-centric fantasy roleplaying game. I came close, once, but no cigar...
The only thing I ever believed in the Bible was John 11:35.

Thanks. I believe the adventure I'm refering to is the one called The Missile Mission, and if I remember right I had the Floating Island one too.

I'll vote for that old Top Secret Companion. I don't know where mine went . . .

That was a great supplement.

I came close on eBay once, but was sniped - and at a price less than what I would have paid.

Serves me right for playing the eBay game.
