Halloween Dark version 2.5 (https://braceofpistols.wordpress.com/2016/10/28/halloween-dark-release-2-5/) is up and ready for your Halloween gaming needs. Based on Graham Walmsley's excellent Cthulhu Dark (http://catchyourhare.com/files/Cthulhu%20Dark.pdf), Halloween Dark is a free beer and pretzels horror game where the players deal cards to steer themselves or their compatriots to safety or deeper into harm's way, often with hilarious results.
The whole project grew out of my public library teen roleplaying program. I needed something fast and light for our annual halloween events and Cthulhu Dark really fit the bill. I added the card mechanic because I wanted a bit more madcap competitive play amongst the kids. I've used it twice now and it's delivered every time. This latest version fixes all of the issues that cropped up on our last game. It's probably a bit on the "narrative" side for a lot of tastes around here, but it isn't meant for long term play.
So if you're thinking about some crazy halloween gaming this weekend, give it a look. Hell, run a game of it. Just don't expect anything too serious.
Happy Halloween,
Tom
This sounds interesting. I'll check it out when I'm back from work!
