This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

It looks really good :) Ben, if you are involved, congratulations :) I would snatch it on PDF, the shiping here is too steep.
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

What did he do? (aside from writing that godawful Pool of Radiance novel)

I'm not directly involved with the Magazine itself, no.

Well that IS good news. I wonder what they switched to to get such a drastic reduction.

Quote from: CRKrueger;6228695e is looking like they might "get it" despite all the doom, gloom, and predictions from people with a really high view of their own opinion.

The new playtest rules look a lot more like shit than Shinola.

Quote from: CRKrueger;622869What I am gonna give them though is what I would give any startup trying to match the artistic quality and content of old Dragon...a break, and time to see if they can actually do it.

Periodicals (mags, comics, etc) need to deeply impress their potential fans with the first issue because very few people are going to spend $9 each monthly hoping that the magazine starts getting good.

There are just too many other options for our entertainment dollars.

Exploderwizard

I'm going to see if my FLGS can order it for me. I would like to check it out but no sense in paying shipping if I can get it through the shop.
Quote from: JonWakeGamers, as a whole, are much like primitive cavemen when confronted with a new game. Rather than \'oh, neat, what\'s this do?\', the reaction is to decide if it\'s a sex hole, then hit it with a rock.

I think the recent explosion of shipping costs could be the first lucky break FLGSs have had in a long time. The US postal service has just handed international stores a life line.

Whereas before, ordering books online was the obvious choice, now gamers here have really only two options now, FLGS or PDF - and I don't think these are mutually exclusive.

Oh, and shipping costs are going to really hurt kickstarter projects. There are a few that I've passed on precisely because shipping was ridiculously high.

Not to mention that those of us overseas have been proper fucked. Costs were bad enough before.

I hear you, man.

The Noble Knight sent out an email to us non-Yanks last month with a warning that we were all going to get screwed badly, so if there's anything you want, order now! Apparently they're going to be using some Swedish courier now for international orders.

It's at the point now where I might as well get a PO box in Buffalo, New York - send all my deliveries there. The cost of driving down to the US is cheaper than mailing stuff up here.

RPGPundit

Sadly I doubt the shipping problem is going to get any better.

What's causing it? A massive influx of British privateers into the North Atlantic? Surly French dockworkers burning all RPG's? German U-boats sinking shipping?

As someone else said somewhere in the thread, what this means is that there's a real opportunity for local game stores here. If you could order, even subscribe, to the magazine through your FLGS without fear of paying outrageous extra charges on top of the price tag, that'd be awesome.

I suspect insane fuel prices are a large part of it.
