This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Greg and Sandy back in charge of Chaosium

That seems good.

RQ6 stays as the system but the next edition will be RQ6 in Glorantha.
A read of RQ6 shows how easy that will be, it was, after all clearly written to be able to simulate Glorantha of old perfectly.

HeroQuest is in the same fold, so material can be dual statted or perhaps non statted with web enhancements for the stats.

All publishing will go through Chaosium, and as we know, Jeff and Rich are publishig and print perfectionists bar none, so excellent succesors to the traditions of 80s Chaosium layout skills, plus a Mastery Rune.

DM continues to publish non Glorantha RQ, and puts it out through Chaosium, where they are also the guardians of the core rules.
Pete and Loz are gamers gamers writing rules and setting books of real pzazz, so excellent succesors to the traditions of 80s Chaosium writing skills, plus a Mastery Rune.

I don't buy any more books until or when I want to run RQ in Glorantha.

We all know the best RQ was RQ1/2 embedded in the setting it grew from.

Chivalric

I suppose it was unfair to call RQ6 bloated.  I read through the book and noticed it had a lot of rules text and the book was huge.  It's probably such that only a fraction of what's in the book will end up in play in a given game.  I'm just someone who tends to use a lighter BRP implementation and found it to be excessive.

I think Stafford said that Pendragon is remaining with Nocturnal, and he has no plans to change that. Support for it will continue through them.

Nocturnal is bringing back Prince Valiant, though.

There's also talks of bringing out Pendragon variants based on Greek Myth, and on the legends of Charlemagne.

Charlemagne is a no-brainer, what with those stories basically sitting in the same genre as the Matter of Britain, whilst Greek Myth is a bit of a surprise but should be interesting - a friend of mine ran a Pendragon game based on precisely that subject matter and by all reports it went swimmingly.
I am no longer posting here or reading this forum because Pundit has regularly claimed credit for keeping this community active. I am sick of his bullshit for reasons I explain here and I don\'t want to contribute to anything he considers to be a personal success on his part.

I recommend The RPG Pub as a friendly place where RPGs can be discussed and where the guiding principles of moderation are "be kind to each other" and "no politics". It\'s pretty chill so far.

Not really surprised, the passions and stuff really seem to fit Greek myths.

The Charlemagne stuff would be brilliant!

Yeah, apparently that's what made my friend's campaign work.

Pendragon isn't lost.
It doesn't need a new edition.
The current publisher is publishing the material Greg writes for it, which essentially add detail for those who want a more expansive game.
The GPC is the ultimate dynastic game.

Maybe it needs a few more scenarios?

I find the idea of a Charlemagne game a bit hohum, in that it is too similar to the current game. As a chivalric fantasy, Mallory's Arthur and the myths of Charlemagne are pretty damned close.

On the other hand, a Greek Myths game could be very very fun, and done with Chaosium/Stafford meticulouness, could be the benchmark for the genre.

I concur with Fuck Cthulhu but it'd be good to see some games based around new writers, even if the serial numbers are file off, like the London occult fantasy stuff from Mieville, Gaiman, Aaronovitch and others. Or other fantasy writers like Mieville, etc.. In fact, a BRP Book of Mieville, of all flavours would be great, in a kind of occult/fantasy melange..

Where can I buy my

Pendragon for the Kennedy presidency and family would be great too.

Yeah, Charlemagne you could basically do with a single supplement for standard Pendragon. The Greek Myths would be fodder for a whole game line.

Again I have to question the sense of Greek Myths for Pendragon. Glorantha is very close to Bronze Age Mythology in places (even though the Pundit is right that it is a modern view of how a polytheistic society might work not necessarily how real polytheists may think and live), and RQ6 currently has a default setting very very close to the Hellenistic world. So, you know, makes more sense for that Greek Myths book to be a RQ book.

A Mythic Greece was planned by the DM for RQ6.  As far as I know, it's still on the agenda, though perhaps delayed somewhat given the need to produce RQ:G.
