Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Greetings Everyone

Quote from: DNDWoodElf;948090Yep, absolutely. Just didn't like the feel. Completely subjective on my part. I also didn't care for 3-4. Not badwrongfun, just not my fun. I am a big fan of good ol' becmi and rc.

I wasn't old enough to try anything older then 1e. And 2e just made way more sense to me. Now do you have a clue why I prefer 5e?. I like old school as a concept but hate it in practice unless it's held to a certain point. I'd kill to try RC but not BCMI. I like at-will attack cantrips, I like that only a pure fighter gets 3-4 attacks, I like that wizards aren't useless and have "The Hammer". If only they would have the balls to bring back race as class then I would be in hog heaven but I understand my preference is the minority.

Marleycat, RC is BECMI. I also dig race as class for some reason. I played 1e, you didn't miss anything. Most people ignored approx. 40 percent of the 1e rules to make it playable. Then some bitched when 2e formalized everything they were already doing. The 1e modules did have some definite gems though.

I did say I'm not really old? No offense but when Star Wars came out I couldn't understand why my brother was trying to convince his sister some silly Sci-Fi movie was the Bomb. I thought he was insane and stupid as usual. I saw Star Wars like 7-8 years later and instantly knew why my brother was begging me to see it. I just know what I like even if it isn't the normal? 2e was great for gamer types that didn't play war games or actually know Gygax. I never knew they were the same game. All I knew was I could never get the money together to get the RC. I was into other games by then. But the book was pretty and so fun to read if a friend let me. And for some stupid reason I prefer Race as Class.

I liked the initial stuff for 2e, but as stated elsewhere it just didn't have the right feel for me. RC is, in my opinion, a very well done compilation/expansion of becmi. I think part of the reason I like 5e so much is that, for me at least, it gives me a similar feel to RC. Race as class and THACO never bothered me one bit.

Marley, my guess is that since you like 5e, even though you're playing it wrong ;-), you would like RC. I do like the skill and weapon mastery rules from RC.

I dunno, that might send the wrong message, and I'm just not that type of dice-slinger. A little innocent prodding is one thing, but implied lewdness via cranial gesturing towards pencil proximity is a little far. Besides, he might think I'm game for the whole pee-hole thing he keeps talking about.

(gasp) I mean his PENCIL! The thing he writes with! I am shocked! Shocked, I say! :-) (yeah, you really gotta stay away from Gronan's pee-hole. Then again, that's pretty easy, because he's always shoving someone down there).:-D

Same here, but I can never get anyone to play it around here.

It is? I guess you learn something new everyday. I really need to start reading other people's posts I'm so embarrassed I didn't see this hint a page ago. RC is where/why I prefer race as class. I prefer demihumans as de facto multiclassed and humans as single class characters. It just makes total sense to me.
