This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Greetings Everyone

Welcome to wacky world.

Heres your complimentary WWII helmet. Hope you survive the shelling.

What prompred the stop of playing 2e?

I have the original WHFRP. Pretty interesting approach it had.

5e is alot of fun to DM and play in. Even with its occasional flaws. (Ranger, Grappeling Short Rests, bit too Demon-happy)

Quote from: Brand55;947990Adventures in Middle-earth. It's the D&D 5e version of The One Ring RPG. It's a pretty good take on Tolkien and I like it a lot more than vanilla D&D, so I can't wait for more supplements to come out.

The One Ring was the one with the funky d12 and d6 dice pools, right?
Does the 5E version keep the positioning/initiative mechanic? I actually liked that one.

Yeah, I'm really digging 5E, brought me back to DND honestly. 2E was just getting a little too rules-heavy for my taste. Options are cool, but by the same token can be restrictive as well.

Easy there, tiger. "Playing with people's pencils" and "dropping ones sack" all over the place usually demands some wine-and-dining first. We're gentlemen around here.

Welcome btw!

Thanks for the welcome. Is Mad Dog 2020 ok? Or are we refined around here? I have some home-made watermelon wine (I didn't make it, a friend with talent did).
I make some damn good spaghetti if that is good enough for dinner.

Marley, Opa, Spinach, Baer, and anyone I missed, thanks for the welcome!

Yep, it uses a pool of d6 plus a d12, which can either save your ass or completely screw you over if you get the eye of Sauron symbol (11) on it.

No, AiMe plays with normal 5e combat rules. I expect using some form of TOR's combat system would have required a serious overhaul of the classes that were used.

But thats all they are. Options. Use or dont. No different from having lots and lots of issues of Dragon (Which I do).

Quote from: DNDWoodElf;947967Longtime lurker, new poster.

Started playing DND in the early 80's. Stopped mid-way through 2E.

Welcome.

If you had stayed around to the end of 2e you would have been treated to such tomes as "The Complete Book of Slaad Bards, Vol. 2". Feeling pretty foolish now aren't ya?

Hopefully you will stick around here longer and learn not to make such poor decisions.

Now get in the pit and try to love someone....

Signed,
Americuh!

Yep, absolutely. Just didn't like the feel. Completely subjective on my part. I also didn't care for 3-4. Not badwrongfun, just not my fun. I am a big fan of good ol' becmi and rc.

Thats ok. I just didnt like the feel of some of the expansion books. They felt somehow lacking in vitality.
