This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Goodbye. For now.

Quote from: Shawn Driscoll;1048930If you want to find good players to game with, you need to promote RPGing on a YouTube channel. That's how it's been since 2010. If you don't have a YouTube channel, you're barely treading water.

Is this actually true? As I've deeply considered doing something of that nature just to get more active in the community and find new groups.

Sorry for going off topic.

More to the point you will be deeply missed even by those of us that never actually post anything.

Finding good players for a tabletop - starting my own D&D Meetup cost a bit of money & some stress dealing with venue management, but works very well. :) Also, live in a major metropolitan area! :D

Good luck!  We'll keep a seat for you.

Hey, how about starting a thread detailing everything you did?  Kind of a "Here's how you set up a successful Meetup" kinda thing.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Isuldur is a badass because he stopped Sauron with a broken sword, but Iluvatar is the badass because he stopped Sauron with a hobbit. -Malleus Arianorum

"Tangency Edition" D&D would have no classes or races, but 17 genders to choose from. -TristramEvans

Thank you everyone! I appreciate your words of encouragement. I'm sure I'll be back, I just need to focus on this for now.

This is truly the best RPG site in the world. I'm so happy I stumbled in here.

And hobby burnout is normal. No need to declare it permanent. Maybe it is, maybe its not, maybe your hobby excitement returns in a new form.

nope

Good luck, I hope you successfully rekindle those passions and maybe even work your way back around to this one eventually. Either way, only the best to you.

Yup, "doing both" never enforced simultaneously, order of sequence, or in equal measure. Complex beings can take complex approaches to enjoying more than one pleasure. :)
Just make your fuckin\' guy and roll the dice, you pricks. Focus on what\'s interesting, not what gives you the biggest randomly generated virtual penis.  -- J Arcane

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

I'm pretty sure I've heard this same line from the GF before... But true, nonetheless.

Well, I did stop running and playing games for now. However, I found not keeping up with the world of RPGs to be too depressing. :-D  I'm thinking I need to find the right group of players (eventually) and focus on creating for now. I can create music and RPG stuff, I don't have to choose. So, I'm back. Sort of. I'm going to be a non-player/non-GM for a bit and tune up something I am really motivated to run.

See you around the neighborhood!
