This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I ran across a PDF of the old GW supers game Golden Heroes the other day. This is one of those games I always saw on the racks back in the 80's but never thought to pick up. Now days that I'm getting all nostalgic about games and the "Good old days of gaming", I look for these old treasures to see if there is some ancient gaming wisdom to be found in the dusty
Dollar-bin tomes.
I found out that this game is still around, though it goes by a different name. It's now called Squadron UK and is available as a PDF. Since my gaming allowance is done for this month, I settled for the free basic set they offer at RPGNOW. as free offerings go this one is pretty hefty at 31 pages. it's an intetresting read and I may spend the ten bucks and get the whole thing.
has anyone here played either this version or the old Golden heroes game from GW?

I've played in an online PBEM game briefly, played it a couple times in face to face. Its pretty solid old school with a few really brilliant bits, and some very odd decisions for handling things. (Weapon Class frex) in a game with abstract movement based on panels I found weapons class odd--but not terrible. It looks way more complex with "Hits to Kill" and "Hits to Coma" (Sheesh violent much :) ) than it really is.

Backgrounds are brilliantly handles and power rolls for a random game worked fairly smoothly--since it covered "if you rolled power multiple times" and some other bits.

I've been planning on buying the updated version. I joined the mailing list and tried to help playtest but it was during a rough time for me, so I didn't actually provide any real help to my recollection.

I've played in games with the old version and I run games with the, slightly amended, rules from the new version.I also moderate a small yahoo group dedicated to GH/SQUK at:

if you are interested, there are some npc stats and villains in the files section of this group that might be of some use.:)

So atheists have been abused, treated badly by clergy or they\'re stupid.They\'re just being trendy because they can\'t understand The God Delusion because they don\'t have the education, plus they\'re just pretending to be atheists anyway. Pundit you\'re the one with a problem, terminal stupidity.
