Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Working on an experimental character (good way to learn the basics). He's taken from another game: a barbaric northman type. In his home system, he could transform it a big ass bear (strong, had bestial senses, hard to hurt, etc) but that was his only additional form. How could be I finagle that in Godbound?

"The salient fact of American politics is that there are fifty to seventy million voters each of whom will volunteer to live, with his family, in a cardboard box under an overpass, and cook sparrows on an old curtain rod, if someone would only guarantee that the black, gay, Hispanic, liberal, whatever, in the next box over doesn't even have a curtain rod, or a sparrow to put on it."

More Exalted to Godbound rules.

Skywalker

Godbound is much more granular than Exalted. So, it is harder to fine tune specific cases. However, a player can easily reskin their Gifts such that they relate to a specific form or involve an element of shape change.

If I had to go Full Bear Shifter Mode, I'd pick Might, Endurance and Shapeshift OR Beast (Beast is more ranger with a little shifter, Shapeshift is full shifter).

[EDIT]
If you don't give a crap about other shapeshifting powers (or animal related powers) other than going into Bear Form, you could just pick the appropiate lesser Beast Gift for 2 points, then pick a more combat oriented Word like Sword for Total Warebear Anhilation Mode.

[edit 2]
Third option: the GM allows you to create a 1-point Gift to transform into a bear (more fluff than anything else), and all your powers come from your Words (Might, Endurance and Sword). I'd probably pick this option for your character concept.

Quote from: Brand55;908222I thought I'd share this link that was posted on the Godbound thread over on rpg.net recently. It's one group talking about their experiences with Exalted 3rd and Godbound over the past year. At least one of the guys in the podcast isn't very nice to Holden, so it wouldn't surprise me if the original link gets removed.

Yeah props for posting this. This podcast pretty expertly characterizes my frustrations with the game.

I'd just use a fact to cover the ability to shapeshift in a bear (In godbound shifting changeing gift are mostly useful  for disguise, concealement, and travel, and the ability of shaping into a bear offer far too little for those ends to be worth a gift point) or I'd refluff a weapong gift as increasing damage by changing into a bear.
I'd consider beast anyway, as it covers indomitable animal will and sharp senses (beside giving a little more breadth to the character)

Having grabbed the free version of Godbound, I've got a question - what does the deluxe version have that the free version doesn't? Not that I'm not going to get the deluxe version (I plan to tonight), just curious...

"...maybe this has to do with my being around at the start of published RPGs and the DIY attitude that we all had back then but, it seems to me that if you don\'t find whatever RPG you are playing sufficiently inclusive you ought to get up off your ass and GM something that you do find sufficiently inclusive. The RPG setting of your dreams is yours to create. Don\'t sit waiting and whining for someone else to create it for you." -- Bren speaking on inclusivity in RPGs

Thanks! I'm in the process of downloading it and Sixteen Sorrows from DTRPG right now. :)

Yeah, the free version of the game is entirely playable but it's definitely worth it in my book to upgrade to the deluxe version. The godwalker section in particular looks really intriguing. When I get around to running GB, my first game might just have to be a heroic mortals game featuring mecha rather than a normal demigod campaign.

I picked exactly that, plus Deceit, for a Godbound I created for a forum game, and I believe I've been inspired by the same source material;).

Also, is anyone going to change the title? The game isn't in Beta any more so maybe Godbound (now released) would be better, IMO:D!

That works, but it overemphasizes the value of the combat Gifts;).
