Quote from: Skywalker;875733Yeah. I was going by the rules as written.

You could switch to an ascending roll over approach across the board with:

- Attribute rolls are d20 + attribute, DC21
- Save rolls are d20 + level + attribute mod, DC 15
- Attack rolls are d20 + level + attribute mod, DC (20-AC)
Exactly. That's the range of options I first thought of when I started reading through. I'll probably try playing the game by the book just to see how the players like it first, but that's going to be my backup option if anyone doesn't like it.

Skywalker

If you were try to unify things more, I would look do something like:

- Attribute rolls are d20 + level + attribute mod + 10, DC 20
- Save rolls are d20 + level + attribute mod + 5, DC 20
- Attack rolls are d20 + level + attribute mod + AC, DC 20

The only real change is to the Attribute rolls and that would make the only difference between them as bonus you add depending on the type of roll made.

Then again, the rest of the game looks so good I probably will stick with the system as written :)

Interesting. I'm not sure about the changes to the attribute roll, but it could work. Oh, and I'd have to check the book but to go back to the previous examples I think Save rolls would need a -1 since I don't think characters receive a +1 bonus to saves at first level. But that's minor.

Yeah, I think it's worth it to try the RAW first before toying with anything. It's just good that the rules are so easy to tweak in the first place.

You are right.

I guess the argument would be that attributes represent raw ability and not learned experience, so would not rise with level.

Anyway, I will play by RAW first. I still think it would be good to see some of these core rules lifted from the body of text into more visible formula, whatever that formula may be.

Wonder if it will be very long before we start seeing fan conversions of Exalted material.

Considering that some people started using Exemplars and Eidolons/Godbound for Exalted close to a year ago, I'd say that's a safe bet. I already know the basics of what I'd want to do. The only real question for me would be how best to separate the tiers of Celestial/Terrestrial Exalted types as far as starting bonuses and if I'd want to make it so certain Words were only available to certain Exalted types, such as to keep the elements just for Dragon-Blooded or Death solely for Abyssals.

Skywalker

Given its explicitly designed to replicate a close to Exalted style and setting, I am not sure it would be worth converting over just running it as is.

Luca

I have some basic conversion rules to port Exalted Sorcery to Godbound ;), but they're based on the first beta versions and would need to be revised for the final product.

I never bothered with the different Exalted power levels since I was interested in a Solar game. Only nod I gave to that was to ban a bunch of Spheres since they were thematically inappropriate to Exalted Solars; e.g. the four "elemental" ones.

Majus

Ah, this is the game that was recommended in the Exalted thread, right?

Looks interesting, I'll take a look (though I'm really happy with how my own system is working these days, so may be more interested in looking at the game as an interesting and thought provoking read).

For Dragon Blooded, I'd just trim down their word list, (And make a new word for each element) and only give them access to Greater Gifts of their chosen element. They would be limited to lesser gifts in all other words..

Also, they wouldn't count as worthy foes for any other Exalted whose level they didn't equal.

That being said, I'm running the setting as is currently, rather than converting to Exalted like I originally planned... It's fantastic and the influence/dominion rules have already come into play naturally...

After saving a community in the forsaken nation or Ancalia, the players used their influence to convert it's powerful ruler from being a despot to being benevolent. This meant they didn't have to kill him and leave the community without a strong protector...

It's difficult for me to think how something like that would have worked in Exalted since their are no rules for actually doing macro setting changes...Sure we could roleplay out the use of charms to try and change the local ruler's mind (And he'd be represented as a strong Dragonblooded in Exalted) but there would be no guarantee of permanent or actual change... no flexing of godlike power..

Instead my PC's were able to invest influence and say, "Remember your honor as a holy knight, remember who you use to be...your people deserve that" and now the Ruler is a benevolent leader rather than a ruthless pragmatic tyrant...

It's a real change in the world they know they can count on, particularly when they invest Dominion into it and make it permanent...The community is now also the first members of their congregation..
1. Some of you culture warriors are so committed to the bit you'll throw out any nuance or common sense in fear it's 'giving in' to the other side.

While I'd just run them with a by-the-book Scarlet Heroes instead, it looks the exact power level for how I picture them;).

The deluxe version that KS backers get and that folks will be able to buy at DTRPG will include a section on building themed Godbound, with some example builds of "paragons of human capability", "elemental scions", "refugees from destiny", and possibly "shapeshifting physical powerhouses". GMs can use the tools to either replicate their takes on Exalted's various exalt types, or brew up their own themes for their game. It's not a heavyweight system, but it does include lists of various perks or limitations a GM can decide to apply to a Godbound type to give them a more individual character.

How does E&E / Godbound run in actual play?

How does it transcend D&D to capture the Exalted-ness?

I love Exalted 1e, but I only use the Quickstart rules because I can't handle the actual system.

Take a look at the extensive Beta. It should answer your questions.

How does it handle non combat skills and social interaction?
