This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

GMs - what are they really? A small little silly theory

The GM is me becaue the only reliable way I have of actually playing a tabletop RPG is to run the damned thing myself.  The last time I played for more than a session or two was a 1999-2000 interval, where I played in a Star Wars game that brazenly and blatantly ripped off The Phantom Menace (Yes, we had a PC substitute for Jar-Jar.)  Since ending my Exalted, I've nothing about playing, so I'm preparing to run a D&D campaign starting this fall, once my employment status stabilizes.

I can sympathise - doubt I'll ever get to actually PLAY again unless I clone myself and don't tell myself what I'm planning.

If Sean "Kromm" Punch would let me sit in on his game I think I'd have a good time. His style and mine seem pretty similiar from what I can tell.

This is what a really cool FANTASY RPG should be like :

A Referee makes a zero sum game into a non-zero sum game.
A Referee is neccessary for riddles, secrets and all other kinds of achievements.

Without Referee, the game can become a zero-sum game, AND loses all possible challenges and secrets if it doesn´t.
If there can\'t be a TPK against the will of the players it\'s not an RPG.- Pierce Inverarity

I said I was sorry. It wasn't on purpose, it was the vodka.
God in the Machine.

Here's my website. It's defunct, but there's gaming stuff on it. Much of it's missing. Sorry.

I've got a blog. Do you read other people's blogs? I dunno. You can say hi if you want, though, I don't mind company. It's not all gaming, though; you run the risk of running into my RL shit.
