Title: "Genesis II"/"Planet Earth" as an RPG Campaign. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Greetings Gamers,

Back in the 1970s, Gene Roddenberry produced TWO pilot movies for a potential  Post Appcalyptic TV series.

The first one was called "Genesis II" and starred Akex Cord as Dylan Hunt - a man from our near future who had been in suspended animation by accident for a hundred years.

The second pilot movie was called "PLANET EARTH" - same premise but the main character of Dylan Hunt was played by John Saxon now.

If it had become a series it would have featured teams of 'PAX' field agents going to villages and other places helping civilization to re-start.

The stories would feature this very hight tech "Sub-shuttle" system that was basically a very high-tech sunway that could go to almost anywhere on the planet.

I have always wanted to run that as an RPG campaign - the trick is getting a gtroup ofr players interested and what rules system to use.

Years ago someone sent me a pdf of he Writers Bible for the potential show - so I have the outlines of over 14 episode stories and also good sketches of the weapons and equipment the teams would use.

If I ever got this going I thought maybe I could toss in a rival scientist group and an "ARk II" kind of vehicle could show up.

I would think that you'd want a system that keeps a lid on power creep and keeps the PCs vulnerable to lesser threats while still allowing them to grow in ability and find cool toys (relics) that they could use.  I would think repurposing Cyberpunk 2020 or Traveller would be the way to go.
