This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Mike, don't even bother arguing with J Arcane. He's one of those who actually believes D&D is good for nothing other than Hack N' Slash. He claims that D20 doesn't really exist. :rolleyes:

Of course the fucker would feel threatened by anything that demonstrates that D&D is good for more than just what he wants it to be all about.

You continued inability to understand a single word I say remains utterly fascinating.

I've always thought that if a post had nothing but abuse, it should be a PM to the person you're abusing. If it had a point, or abuse and a point, it should be public. Since RPGPundit and J_Arcane have no point and are just abusing each-other, perhaps they could take it to PM. Saves clutter in the forums and wasted time reading nothing of substance.

On topic: there is not now, nor has there ever been, a Swine Conspiracy. There are certainly gamers who think they're superior to other gamers, and certainly a very few who game to feel superior; but they do not form a coherent group and conspire. They're gamers, they're not organised enough for a conspiracy :p

I have a personal right to address libellous statements however the fuck I please.

How about I give you some advice, since you're so fond of burdening everyone else with yours.  Next time you feel like telling me how should post, PM it to yourself.  Because I sure as fuck don't want to hear it.

Regarding DnD.

There doesn't need to be a split between DnD (in any incarnation) and a basic game. If you want something close (and, IMO, very good) for the current edition check out DnD for Dummies.
Simplicity is only really needed on the character creation and GM prep side of things. Keep crunch in play.
Maneuvers (as mentioned) are generally similar. All that needs changing is the opposed roll. Invent a derived stat for some kind of static defense, as per AC

How the fuck is this "on topic"; you sanctimonious cunt?

Why don't you take an oath to start a new thread about Roleplaying for every single fucking post you make complaining about how someone else posts and acting like a self-righteous wanker? Then you might be doing something REALLY productive.

You see? I can bring enemies together. Now J_Arcane and RPGPundit are in agreement, they both say I'm a cunt. I'm like the UN! Now you must show your reconciliation by a forceful kiss and passionate roll in the sheets, that's what happens in all the movies when enemies become friends.

Now RPGPundit, my post was on-topic, it just contained some other mutterings. I would not say that no post can contain other mutterings and must have a laser-like focus, that's impossible.

And I have started 76 threads in this subforum, I think that's not bad. I didn't start one today because I can't think of a useful or interesting topic, if I want to post useless and boring things I try to keep that for my blog. :D

I'll post the on-topic part again since you missed it. I'll bold it and everything!

So what do you say to that?

My answer is who the fuck EVER said they're a "conspiracy"; except people who are trying to disprove the existence of Swine with a straw man?

Of course there's no fucking conspiracy, in the sense of the Swine meeting in secret in shadowy rooms plotting the downfall of the RPG hobby. What does exist is a bunch of individual Swine and a couple of general movements of Swine who all individually have the same goals in general.

And now I have a point for you: Your constant desperate-wannabe-mod posts where you berate other users of this board for not behaving the way you want them to are just as much of a threadcrap and a disruption, if not more, than other people's flaming each other.

The bulk of the PHB is spells. You can cut down the PHB to amalgamate it with other corebooks very easily just by cutting down the spell listings. First three levels should be enough - that gets lightning bolt and fly, but skips acid fog and guards and wards and such. Instead of the full DMG, just have a list of basic magic items (wands, potions, scrolls, weapons and armour) and status effects, with maybe a brief ten-page discussion of how to make a fantasy adventure. Then slap in thirty-or-so one-page monster listings that are basically the SRD info + a paragraph of text explaining them. "Drow are evil, well-organised elves that live underground, use lots of magic, and fight with one another constantly."

Badda boom, a one volume basic game for D&D. Folks more accustomed to design could probably find other things to trim and shape to make it even easier for the introductory player. Toss in some dice, some character sheets, some big folded white sheets with grids to draw on, and some paper counters for monsters and heroes, and you're set to go.

The Pernicious Light, or The Wreckers of Sword Island;
A Goblin\'s Progress, or Of Cannons and Canons;
An Oration on the Dignity of Tash, or On the Elves and Their Lies
All for S&W Complete

If anything, I find them just showing poor taste.
And begetting of a rather big difference between Kyle-as-he-sees-himself, and Kyle-as-he-is-perceived by the outside world.

Disrupting?
No.
Annoying and lacking good taste?
Yes.

But that´s definitely allowed here, Pundit.

J Arcane, I disagree with the proposition that Star Wars Saga Edition is dumbed down.  Streamlined would be the term I would use.  It strikes me as a game that's taken advantage of the best parts of 3.5 while not being weighed down by some of the clunkier bits.  Mind you, I haven't played it yet.  But I've played enough 3.x to feel like I can form at least a half-assed opinion at this point.

Well, it's streamlined for a certain kind of game. Doing the same with the premises of D&D-style gaming would require some other measures.

Agreed.  I'm not a member of the "Saga is the new face of D&D" camp.

I've never heard of Saga. Are there any fans here who might start a thread telling us about it?
