This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Dr Rotwang!Yeah, man, my wife and I stood there with Bill a space, talked about "Squirrel Attack", got the free die.  he made an impression and NO, he did NOT smell like tuna. If you were there as well, then yes, we saw you, although we didn't talk to you much at the time as Bill was pitchin' stuff to us.  It was on Sunday, we bought "Squirrel Attack" and "The Pie Incident".

too bad. Yeah, we were busy @ the booth last year and to be honest I can't remember anyone I talked to anymore.

Did we finally end up with theRPGsite Shirts?

I'm thinking we will have some.  I'll likely take a head count beforehand of who's wanting one, and go from there.  I don't think we ever agreed on a design or anything, but there's another thread somewhere for that.  We'll see how my funds are beforehand, but I'll bring as many as I can if folks want them...

Seriously, I love covering Gen Con. Back before RPG Blog was on hiatus, I loved going there, doing my pre-show guide, interviews, plenty of review material, covering the ENnies, getting to talk to old friends and new. I guess the difference is, this year I'll be doing it for this site instead. I should be doing more liveblogging this year, which should be fun. And Theresa's ready to tak oodles more pics--even thought she will be 8 months pregnant at the time of Gen Con. :o

EDIT: I think I also want to run a game of Lacuna this year.  I haven't had a chance to run it in what seems for ages, and it's the perfect game for those 3 am sessions when everyone's already existing in a state of pure caffiene paranoia. :)

Quote from: Dr Rotwang!I wanna hear more about your Earth pastime called "Star Cluster Two".  Oh, and "Nebuleon" wile we're at it. We met Bill last year at GenCon and he was aces, 'cept he smells like tuna fish.

Nebuleon is Bill's SF game, set in a universe where humans are decidedly fringe creatures looking for a home. An awesome game, and highly recommended!

StarCluster 2 is my classic SF* game. Pundit reviewed it a while ago - Pundit's review link.

* Classic SF is SF which is hard-ish - i.e. pays attention to physics but generally has FTL and possibly antigravity working on a basis of more advanced physics than relativity - in the vein of authors like Niven, Anderson, Cherryh, Brin, and others. Traveller, for example, is Classic SF.

-clash

Added: It occurs to me that Neb could be the flip side of StarCluster - that is the humans in Neb may be refugees from the same cataclysm that sent humans to the Cluster, but who went a different way... Interesting concept! I'll have to re-read Neb to see if that's a possible interpretation! :D

See...the more I hear about them, the more I want to play them.  Me, with no time and no money...

Got's to get me to GenCon....wonder if the wife has read those e-mails yet and decided to take pity on my poor soul...

But the probability has gone from .0568% to 1.789% in just one day!

I'll definitely run you an SC 2 game if you make it, James! If not, I run games regularly over IRC and you will be invited next time I set one up. :D

Oh! You can DL the free StarCluster Lite game. It has the full set of rules, limited chargen, and no setting.

This is quite viable. And to go further, I do not think the systems would clash horribly. In Neb, the home world for humans is called the Confederation of Five. It is a settled world with all manner of humans but primarily from five distinct cultures. They claim an ancestry that few believe, a great home world  hundreds of light years distant. The problem is, it has become the primary place for human escaped slaves and war refugees from the Nebuleos. The original founders are long dead and the history is held as a fabrication of the Confederation to put it on an equal footing with other races.

My Schedule
I am running SA! (The Pie Incident, Shaolin Squirrels and Squirrels Ahoy) in two hour blocks from 12-6. After that, I am open to running or playing.

Clash, what does your schedule look like?

Rotwang, I do indeed remember you and your wife. I believe I initially thought you were one of the RPGNet owner crowd (Shannon and the like). Sorry we did not have a less hectic discussion time. Having meaningful discussions at the booth are very tough. Hopefully this year we can have a proper sit down discussion about what is better, Men without Hats or Wang Chung. ;)
