This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

[Gen Con Indy] Never too early...

Quote from: James J SkachI'm interested with the following caveats..

  • I'm a noob when it comes to sci-fi.  Clash will have to hold my hand ;)
  • The tower has been silent on clearence.  However, it seems the compromise would be we go to Indy, but I only get, like, a day at the convention.
I will only be there Friday night and Saturday so don't worry too much. I am not sure where or when we want to game. Ideas? Suggestions?

IF I get there this year - could all of you guys do me a favor ?

If we look like things are going slow at the charity Jail  - could plunk down a few bucks and have one of your friends arrested ??

Doing that just isn't as fun unless we got someone to toss into the jail.

 Thanks in advance.

I'm philosophically opposed to the concept of charity.

Plus, what charity is this?

In past years , when we "Klingons" got to choose the charity it was the Make-A-Wish foundation.

GenCOn likes to pick local charities when they can last year it was Rupert's Kids a local kids charity founded by the Rupert that was on Survivor years ago.

Sometimes we don't know until late July what the charity will be.

I am half-worried about a member of our group right now.The big 6 foot 4 guy who is our arranger and leader for these events has been in the hospital for the past 5 days.  He had a severe reaction to a combination of medicines and a bad bout of pnemonia at the same time hit him.

My idea for a Nebuleon adventure.

You are Merchant Armed Services Marines sent to dig on the Frontier of known space. The corporation InterStar Transport had an archaeological dig in the G-233 system. They were working on what was thought to be the downed remains of an ancient T'kree war ship. Nine hours ago an automated distress call came in stating an emergency beeper had been activated. You will proceed at highest speed to G-233 - V and carry out your directives in the following priority.

Primary: Recover any research, artifacts or information obtained by the team.
Secondary: Discover and neutralize any threat with precedence given to recon and reporting your findings.
Tertiary: Salvage any equipment or ships from the original team.
Quarternary: Rescue any personnel.

So, interesting? I can whip up the details in a bit if you guys are interested.

I've made my reservations at a KOA campground about 12 miles east of Indy. We decided to tent it rather than rent an RV - basically we'd have no way to get in and out to Gen Con if we took an RV. Can you imagine parking one of those beasts there?

Yeah, that would suck big time. We are near the airport. Should we play on site at the con or at someone's room? Mine has the downside of being a bit away from the con (8 miles), having a Siberian Hisky who thinks she is the center of the universe and a 2.5 year old who is named Theoden and knows he is a horse-king.

My sister called last night and told me she was considerring day-tripping to the Saturday of Gen Con.  There's no way she's going and I'm not going.  Right now I don't have any plans but shopping and socializing.

If I go, and if Clash promises to hold my hand...*Ahem*

Anyway - I might be able to swing an actual Condo for play - though that might just push my wife, as well as my sister, over the edge. Unless, of course, we plan on something during the day when they are out with the kids and such...

Either way, I'll have a minivan and can help transport.  I just have to figure out where the damn Condo is that they bought.  I understand it's right down town as he bought it to be close to where he goes to see games. I just haven't been to Indy, except to drive through (around) in a couple of years since my sister and her hubby moved to Nashville.

And all of this depends on our going. It's a pipe dream, but it's my pipe dream...
